Guest guest
In the past, I asked my dentist why people had receding gums. He said that it was rarely due to gum disease. The most common cause was teeth grinding while sleeping. He gave a long description of why this occurs. This is not gum disease but some unethical dentists diagnose gum disease for receding gums when a protective guard warn at night would correct this. I have had friends who received $2000 plus diagnoses for their gum problems and my wonderful dentist corrected the problem easily and cheaply. One friend would was going to be charged $2000+ for a painful tooth discovered from my dentist that it was due to a filled tooth not being ground down properly after the filling...costing only $200! ~ Lynn Koiner - Jerome Mittelman Cc: Jerome Mittelman Saturday, March 17, 2007 7:56 AM [sPAM] Re: gum disease Misty, 2 factors: 1. Weakened resistive capacity of the host. 2. Of course, organized colonies of bacteria. I gave a radio talk for The Oral Health Committee of Greater NY on this, and we've prepared a packet, " Having Great Gums " discussing this common problem. I think it would be helpful if we made the script for the radio
Guest guest
Lynn is correct. Bite irregularities cause grinding and clenching -- and this causes gum recession. It can occur with or without gum disease. Jerome Mittelman, DDS, FAPM jmittelman For free sample of The Holistic Dental Digest PLUS, reply with your street or pob address.
