Guest guest
Thanks Bonnie for the reply---I do agree about the probiotic addition to the oral intake of nutritives. One was Flora-Stor which helped for awhile then we found out about Ultra Flora IB--made specifically for ulcerative colitis ( I heard the Pharmacist from NY on the radio about it one day). One must be consistent with it thought and with the research med. that she is on, I don't know if it is interfering or not. The Flora Stor works wonders with other intestinal problems, one of which is Candida. Also I appreciate all the other info you gave me. I know some of it has not been attempted by her. I will give her this when I see her on Tues. If anyone else has more actions they have taken that have been successful I would also appreciate hearing about them too. Thanks again Bonnie Fran
Guest guest
Fran: here's more -- different parts of the colon wall seem to attract DIFFERENT pathogenic colonies. This is why a one-size marketing approach such as " XYZ probiotic cures UC " is actually incorrect, and of course the marketing speak doesn't address that all they have is one hammer when you need a varied approach for each colony/location. I think that's why a probiotic blend is better. Still, the probiotics fluorish when they are fed inulin, so when one is using the inulin, if one used a bottle of probiotic up pretty fast, not three caps at a time but like 20, which people on candidasis are getting results with, and after a couple of bottles, switching probiotics will often produce the result, as you intimated. Consistent applications aren't required; marketing speak just doesn't allow for the power of a synbiotic approach. Using inulin you're growing way more probiotics than you'd ever take in capsules, and the active culture sticks to the bowel wall, which they have a hard time doing if they aren't being fed to keep them active. The research indicates two weeks of inulin will make bifidobacteria dominant, and practice indicates a month or two even without a probiotic capsule will change ecology pretty thoroughly even in a bowel disease condition. Again, hitting that pathogen where it sits might be key so different bifidobacteria and lactobacilli starter cultures might be very, very useful.
