Guest guest
Hi All - I just wanted to make sure this group knows about theroadback.org - it is a protocol to safely taper off psychotropic drugs while eliminating side effects and withdrawal... they do not sell product - it is a free program with all that one needs posted on the site. I've been searching for a way off an SSRI for a long time now, having tried " everything " ... this protocol appears to be quite a real solution. Anyone tried it? Guest guest
Hello Lynn. A friend of mine used this program to help her go off of Zoloft. She says she has tried to go of off it many times but been unable to. Anyways, she was successful this time. But unfortunately she went back on it after being off for a month - she said she kept crying all the time and finally got fed up with crying. She says she is not depressed. blessings Shan , " elijahnyc " <lmichaels02 wrote: > > Hi All - > > I just wanted to make sure this group knows about theroadback.org - it > is a protocol to safely taper off psychotropic drugs while eliminating > side effects and withdrawal... they do not sell product - it is a free > program with all that one needs posted on the site. > > I've been searching for a way off an SSRI for a long time now, having > tried " everything " ... this protocol appears to be quite a real solution. > > Anyone tried it? > > Lynn > Moderator/SSRI-Research >
Guest guest
One person I helped tapering off with SSRI did it slowly with support from omega3 and omega6 (GLA)with the background of multivitamins minerals. The other person, my close relation, did it in a jerk one fine evening saying " I am bored and irritated with too many medicines " . He was able to do so in my view because he was on omega3 and omega6 with back up from multivitamins and minerals. The first case has not relapsed on three months off and still going strong. The second one is off of all psychiatric medicines past at least three years. If there is no depression but the pt just cries then endorphins deficiency is the factor. Guest guest
I am so glad that folks out there have people who know how to help them get off of meds like this. I was on Neurontin for a year and it took me three tries and a month on the bathroom floor with DT's to get off of it. Then of course, following my doc's advice " was then put on three kinds of pain meds, an anti-depresent, a sleeping pill, a muscle spasm med, geez you name it. All of this for fibromyalgia! My lovely friend and homeopath showed me how to control the pain with herbs/vits/teas/oils and eating differently. Had to go through several weeks of DT's again. I would not wish this on anyone but the folks who can wean themselves off of these kinds of drugs deserve a standing ovation! ~Rocky
Guest guest
You know Lynn - I went and looked at the site and it looks like a really good approach. About four years ago I tapered off my SSRI - Celexa - and used large amounts of Omega 3s. Cod Liver Oil and Flax Oil were the two I used the most and took theraputic doses - 3T in the morning and 3T at night. In addition, I used 5-HTP to help me sleep. It was trial and error on the amounts, but finally worked up to the 6T a day and it worked for me. Now I don't do near that amount, don't take 5-HTP and have managed to stay off of any antidepressants after having been on them for a decade. In the winter months, I have a bit more problems with depression but have staved that off with Vitamin D, as much sunlight as I can muster, and the occasional high doses of Omega 3s. Each person and their needs are different, but theroadback.org looks like something that would really work. Best of luck! Guest guest
Hi, Don't know why your friend is on Zoloft. I have been on it for quite some time for OCD(obsessive compulsive disorder). Recently I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's B-cell lymphoma. Fortunately found very very early as an incidental finding while being checked out for a possible heart attack. Immediately put out the word to some of my friends about the cancer diagnosis. Went on Vitamin A, C, & E cocktail; then added Vitamin D with Maitake mushrooms. Strangely, I was able to stop taking Zoloft and my wife says I don't act like I am OCD anymore. Hmmmmm...works for me, can't speak for anyone else. Just my 2 cents and my personal experience. Maybe there is something to the idea that a body out of balance gets sick. Leon
