Questions about breast lump

My 19 year old daughter, who is far from home at college, found a hard lump

a tiny bit larger than a marble in her breast towards the middle part of the

body. She has no family doctor. Who would she need to see to find out if it

is cancer? She believes in alternative treatments but said there was no way

she could eliminate all sugar from her diet. Any suggestions of the best way

to determine if it is a lump that is not a problem or if she needs to get

serious about changing her diet?

Are there certain tests doctors are likely to want to do that should be

avoided? What should she know to be prepared to deal with who ever examines

her?

Thanks,

Karen

Hi Karen,

I would suggest that she see any doctor, maybe even an OB-GYN because they

tend to deal a lot with women and breast issues. She should see someone as soon

as possible and have it evaluated. A lump is not always cancer, but a medical

professional should make that call.

Find out what it is first, then go from there.

I've had breast lumps and have had several ultrasounds and mammograms and am

only 31. However, it's best to be safe than sorry.
