Guest guest
In the last couple of years( I am 59) my muscles have been wasting away. I have a lot of age spots and I know that indicates liver. I have not had any problem with my liver. Sometime a while back Joann Guest had written an article about insulin resistance and how your muscles could be literally be eaten away. My sugar is fine as to glucose testing (finger prick). Is there a test I can ask my doctor for, for testing for insulin resistance? And should I get my liver enzymes tested? I don't hardly ever go to a doctor because I'm never sick. Went a few years ago for mamogram, bone scan and general exam. Would prefer to stay completely away from doctors because the last one I went to ( I have a flareup in my knee every 5 years or so from a broken leg when I was 2 1/2.He put me on Bextra and said I would have to take it every day for the rest of my life. I only took it as long as the knee was bothering me( a few weeks to a month). Thank heavens I didn't stay on it, we all know how that story ended. If anyone has any insight into this (muscle wasting) and the liver thing I would appreciate it.
