I've found these tips from the infamous Dr. Andwer Weil website. _www.drweil.com_ (http://www.drweil.com) Hopefully you've heard of him. He always gives such sound advice. What also is helpful in your search is to go a bookstore and look in the herbs & healing (usually in the alternative or health sections of the bookstores) and look up detox lungs, aid in lung, healthy lungs, etc.. you get the picture. That's what I always do. And in case you're interested you can look up what to do in Traditional for detoxing the lungs. I've always found that TCM is very very effective, if followed correctly. Here are the tips below from drweil.com. Hope some of this helps you. Dawn Here are some suggestions to protect your lungs from further damage: * Take antioxidant vitamins and minerals. * Take a daily supplement of Coenzyme Q10 supplement (CoQ 10), which can improve the use of oxygen at the cellular level. Take 60 mg twice a day of the softgel form, which is best absorbed when taken with a meal containing some fat. * Take the Chinese medicinal mushroom cordyceps, which may be useful in chronic lung disease. Look for capsules of cordyceps extract and follow the dosage directions on the product label. * Increase your dietary sources of carotenes, such as carrots, sweet potatoes, yellow squash and leafy green vegetables. Do not take straight beta-carotene supplements, however, as in smokers they may increase the chances of other lung problems. Your best bet is the mixed carotenoids found in these foods. * Get regular exercise to build up your stamina. However, make sure your doctor approves before you begin an exercise program. * Maintain normal weight. If you're overweight, your heart has to work harder, and you're more likely to experience shortness of breath. If you're underweight, you will have lower energy stores to draw from. * Try to avoid exposure to air pollution, which can worsen emphysema symptoms. Stay indoors when ozone levels are unhealthy and pollution levels are high.
Guest guest
I like Nettles Root, Ivy Extract, Vit. C and Quericitin. Whenever I have congested lungs, I use the above supplements and Echincea/Goldenseal drops to dry out the mucus. Guest guest
Moonphish, the lungs are the third biggest users of glutathione, which is the body's main antioxidant and detoxifier. The best source of the precursors one would need is two scoops of undenatured whey and 400 mcg selenium per day. Quite a lot of information appears at this page; http://tinyurl.com/qw45t --note the lung disease heading and also the detoxification headings as well as other oxidation things. Also, the free ebook by Jimmy Gutman M.D. is useful. Glutathione can be had as a prescription spray called Mucomyst which the lung tissue can absorb. This won't address systemic glutathione depletion and it might not hit the lungs evenly but still ...
