How can you be sure if it's your thyroid/adrenals?

Hi, I'm a 26 year old female who thinks I could have a thyroid issue.

3 days before Christmas my husband lost his job. A week later I was

sitting on the floor rearranging pictures when I started to get light-

headed. What ensued after that (a day later) was an overall feeling of

achiness and extreme temperature changes. I've had off and on vertigo

my entire life and thought it was just another episode. It wasn't. My

lightheadedness has lasted now for 2 weeks and the doctors have

provided no relief. My other symptoms include, cold hands, eye

floaters, sometimes blurred vision, anxiety when leaving the house,

and emotional extremes. My lightheadness is the thing that concerns

me the most. Has anyone ever had these crazy symtoms? My doc did a T4

AND T3 test but not a FREE T3 and T4 test. I'm seeking an appointment

with a new doctor who might be able to provide more answers, but in

the mean time, any advice is welcomed.

Thank you advance,

Lindsi

Hi Lindsi -

I HIGHLY recommend you find yourself a good integrative m.d. or naturapath. I

had thyroid issues related to my CFS that my OBGYN found that no other M.D.

could figure out, or look any further for answers. I too had dizzy spells. They

would last for several days though. It freaked me out because when I would come

to a stop light it felt like the car was still moving. NOT fun!

I also saw an endocrinologist who was as helpful as terd. Also, next time you

get a lab done, ask for a full panel that will include antibodies. It's called

and Anti-TPO. That will tell you if you have Hashimoto's which really changes

the way that you should treat your TSH number.

Best of luck. Take Care.

Lindsi,

Hi, I have had exactly the same symptoms. The blurred vision and floaters were

very

scary. I thought I was going blind and saw a neurological opthomologist. My

healing was

long and complicated. I have a goiter and my labs were near normal so I had to

medicate

myself by ordering armour online. I take 1 gram a day sometimes more, treating

by the

symptoms. I feel better but it's been a long journey including suppliments,

exercise,

meditation and more, Still not quite right, but getting there.

Good news is my vision is better ( all floaters gone )- but this didn't occur

until I took a

trial of vermox . A stool specimen showed I had malabsorbiton from prolonged

antibiotics

which left me susceptable to bacterial and parasitic infections. After vermox

and priobtics,

my vison improved and floaters went away. I was told vermox does not cross the

brain

blood barrior but the opthomologist said a bacterial infection would have been

helped by

the vermox. While taking it , I had a lot of itching and discharge as well as

" die off ( fever

and aches) whcih told us that I did in fact have some kind of bug the vermox was

killing

off. I know the eye problems also have a thyroid connection and can't read the

morning

papaer or work on the computer without my aromur kicking in each morning. Dot

Lindsi, have you taken an antibiotic in the fluoroquinolone class

lately? It sounds like you have all the symptoms of the side effects

of one of the " quins " e.g.- cipro, levaquin, avelox ect. The're are

about 12 different ones, but the ones i've named are the commonest

ones prescribed. Very bad side effects are common, and could show up

weeks or months after taking one, and could last fors many months.

Hi Lindsi, It may be that you have TWO situaztions going on here. Your liver may

be struggling, hence the floaters etc. so you use milk thistle to check this,

but also do the Barnes Test for the Thyroid. Use Iodine if you are hypothyroid.

It may also be advisable to take, say Olive Leaf extract, just in case there is

a parasite knockingabout.

Lindsi,

I have had all your symptoms. For me, the underlying cause was chronic

sinusitis and damage to my inner ear. For the sinuses I eventually needed to

have surgery (in 1999) to open and enlarge the blocked drainage ducts. But after

so many years stuck in the infection/ antibiotic cycle I had developed chronic

vertigo. The sinus surgery gave me my life back, but there is nothing other than

head movement exercises to help with the vertigo attacks. My advice to you is to

see an ENT doctor and maybe have a CT scan of your sinuses.

I also beleived my issues to be from the thyroid and had all the tests done,

and all came back normal. Then for years I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue

Syndrome and Anxiety disorder. I wish I could sue all the doctors who

misdiagnosed me and said it was " all in my head " . Chronic sinusitis ruined my

career, my reputation, caused people to end their friendship with me because I

was in my 30's and always sick. Basically, it took away my life and its taken me

years to recoup these losses.

I know this is a alternative and natural medicine forum, but I hope you will

take my advice becasue for years I lived exactly like you are feeling and tried

every herb, vitamin and alternative treatment I could find.
