A good book that addresses the issue of candida and has great success in helping

those with candida restore their inner ecosystems and preventing future illness.

" People should read this book if YOU have candidiasis (CRC) chronic fatigue

syndrome, cancer, AIDS, or other immune system deficiencies.

If you have known or suspected food allergies or frequent digestive problems.

If you have frequent skin rashes, constipation, or PMS.

If you are bothered by headaches, or muscle or joint pains.

If you always seem to be tired, nervous, or depressed, or your memory seems to

be poor.

If you are sensitive to tobacco, perfume, or other chemical odors.

If you have taken birth control pills.

If you have been plagued and frustrated by symptoms that persist no matter what

you do to get rid of them.

If you have a history of drug use, including extensive use of antibiotics or

illegal drugs.

If you want to ensure the health of your children and other loved ones.

If you want to prevent major disease that doesn't manifest until years after the

seeds have been sown: cancer, AIDS, heart disease. "

This book is also good to read for those who have not been able to conceive a

baby.

Actually, I do not think there is anything that following this book will not

help. " It is a must-read for anyone who wants to be healthy or who is

exhausted, overweight or has digestive problems, candida, viral infections,

cancer or neurological disorders such as ADD, Autism, Alzheimers, and Multiple

Sclerosis. " You've got nothing to loose except perhaps your disease/sickness.

You can find this book on Amazon.com for under $20. Make sure you order the

Nineth Edition.

On a personal note: I've known about this book for years and have not done the

diet. Wish I would not have been so stubborn. It would have saved me a lot of

pain and suffering.

Take care.

The Body Ecology diet is unaware of the importance of inulin; the

approach promotes eating probiotics, but prebiotics are needed to

feed them so they can actively compete on the bowel wall.

Isn't that what milk kefir does -- make an environment on the intestinal walls

so that the probiotics will flourish? And if this is not the case, is there any

way to feed the probiotics with prebiotics? I guess I don't know what you are

saying.

Body Ecology has a product called Eco Bloom and is great for starting your

cultures.

Yes, I am aware of Eco Bloom. I have done a mucoid lining cleanse and

reestablished my natural flora. This book addressed so many ills. I just

cannot see Bonnie's point.

The term " Prebiotics " , as used here, are special kinds of complex

sugars for which specific intestinal bacteria have an affinity to use as

food! Inulin is one of those such sugars that feed the beneficial type

of bacteria so they can grow strong and compete with the other bacteria

that are trying to colonize the digestive tract. There is constant

warfare going on inside you for territorial expansion... very different

from what happens inside that controlled environment in a cup of

milk-based kefir you just bought, where the conditions are very much

stacked on the side of the Kefir organism! Inside your body is another

story!

As an aside question, does anybody have an explanation of what goes on

in the intestinal flora of a 100% carnivores, like cats or indigenous

people like the Eskimos, where not significant amount of vegetable

matter is consumed as fiber to feed the friendly bacteria?

Thanks for your input Bonnie. You sound very knowledgeable. I guess I look at

results too. There are a lot of people being helped by the diet. If you eat

home made cultured foods that are rich in Vitamin K, B Vitamins, enzymes,

minerals, etc. and IF the diet is helping people get over a multitude of

sicknesses/diseases including candida, I would think that is a big deal.

There is a product out there made available by the Body Ecology Store called Eco

Bloom. It is primarily formulated to promote an environment that will help to

colonize the natural flora in the intestines.

We cannot throw out something so beneficial just because it does not address

every little matter. In fact, kefir helps to promote an environment in the

intestines that help promote natural flora as well.

If by eating home made cultured vegetables we help to re-establish our ecosystem

that is a good thing. If cultured vegetables help to get rid of the invasion of

candida which is very hard to get rid of, that is a good thing.

We still may have to do colon cleanses, take Eco Bloom or Kefir or whatever but

if by eating some good yummy cultured veggies will help people built their

immune system that helps with a multitude of disorders/diseases, I think it is

worth a look-see. I've gone through this book and there are a lot diseases out

there I think this diet will help.

The Body Ecology Diet is primarily a book about clearing up symptoms of

candidiasis, an overgrowth of yeast. As long as a candida overgrowth exists in

the body, the immune sytem is so overshelmed that it cannot even begin to do its

real job which is to fight invaders such as AIDS, chronic fatigue synfrome,

herpes, or cancer. Everyone who has these conditions/diseases has candida. If

you address the yeast overgrowth, you address the related immune-compromised

conditions as well.

I don't know about you, but I need all the help I can get.

Take care.

Not sure about the Eskimos, but cats eat the intestines of the animals

they hunt. So they get roughage and bowel bacteria from the mice's

intestines. I remember that a delicacy in some parts of Eastern

Europe was to eat the small intestines of boars which were filled with

partly digested root tubers. They roasted the boars without cleaning

out the entrails, then ate the small intestines much like sausages.

I would guess the Eskimos do something similar, but I do not know for

sure.
