HSI e-Alert - Immediate Action Required to Stop Bill HR 6168

Dear Reader,

Earlier this week, the U.S. Senate passed the Dietary Supplement and

Non-Prescription Drug Consumer Protection Act (AER).

I hope you'll join me in taking IMMEDIATE action to oppose the House

of Representatives companion bill (HR 6168).

Under AER, an adverse reaction to a drug that's taken while also

taking a safe dietary supplement would unfairly include the supplement

in the blame. The act would require no scientific review that would

absolve the supplement of culpability. The cause of adverse events

should be determined by doctors. This burden of proof should not be

put on supplement manufacturers.

I believe this act will be yet another step toward regulating

supplements the same way pharmaceuticals are regulated. In other

words: A win for drug companies that will further threaten our health

care freedom and access to dietary supplements.

To stop this House bill we must take action TODAY!

Please call the U.S. Capital (202-225-3121) and ask to speak to Dennis

Hastert or Joe Barton. Urge them to vote NO on Hr 6168.

To Your Good Health,

Jenny Thompson
