The commercials advertise Roche's www.flufacts.com Web site, which dispenses advice about the flu, and notes that doctors can prescribe an antiviral medication for prevention and treatment. Roche's own drug Tamiflu is at the top of the list of these medications. According to Rob Donnell, the president and founder of Brand Arc, the company that helped bring together Roche and film distributor Warner Brothers, this marks the first time that a pharmaceutical company has partnered with the entertainment industry. New York Times November 6, 2006 Dr. Mercola's Comment: You know drug companies are getting mighty desperate about selling the " safety " of their harmful flu vaccines to an increasingly wary public when they fund promotional tie-ins to a children's movie. Roche, makers of the virtually worthless and potentially deadly Tamiflu, apparently wants to encourage mothers to consider the drug for their children. Before you consider allowing your child to be vaccinated, I strongly urge you to thoroughly do your homework, especially in regard to the neurological damage these jabs -- tainted with the mercury-based preservative thimerosal -- can do. If you've ever wondered why folks like the Amish don't have autistic children, you're that much closer to understanding the link between mercury and this brain-damaging disease. There are many reasons why a toxic poison like mercury would cause this type of neurological damage. If you have any doubt at all about what mercury can do to your child, I urge you to review some of the pieces I've posted on mercury's damaging connection to autism. Along with autism, mercury exposure can cause a devastating array of problems, including: * Multiple Sclerosis * Central Nervous System Disorders * Alzheimer's Disease It is important to note that these articles are posted on Vital Votes one to two weeks before they appear in the newsletter. Here is what some readers stated when this article was originally posted: One of my readers urges you to contact Time/Warner and let them know how you feel about their advertising choices, using their phone number, (818) 977-9653, or their e-mail, customerservice. Another reader notes that drug company advertising in general has gotten out of hand: " Zyprexa is only FDA approved for schizophrenia (.5-1% of pop) and some bipolar (2% pop) ... So how the heck does Zyprexa get to be the 7th largest drug sale in the world? Eli Lilly is in deep trouble for using their drug reps to 'encourage' doctors to write zyprexa for non-FDA approved 'off label' uses. The drug causes increased diabetes risk, and medicare picks up all the expensive fallout. There are now 7 states (and counting) going after Lilly for fraud and restitution.
