Guest guest
Health police: Drop the trans http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/2006/09/health_police_d.html The New York City health department wants to ban restaurants from serving food that contains trans fats, an artery-clogging component found in many oils and margarines. City health officials describe trans fatty acids as an invisible and dangerous hazard that causes 500 New Yorkers to die each year from heart disease. (Here's an FDA factsheet.) Chefs would have six months to wean themselves off the artifical compound. The city says many have already started changing their recipes. Those who don't would face fines of up to $2,000. The Center for Consumer Freedom, a group funded by the restaurant industry, opposes the proposal. " This is a solution in search of a problem, " says Rick Berman. Are you worried about what you're eating when you go to a restaurant? Posted by Mike Carney at 09:50 AM/ET, September 27, 2006 in Health/Science | Permalink Comments The problem is that these super-processed and health damaging foods are so common and " normal " in our everyday life that many believe that these foods are not that bad since they are found everywhere. Plus everywhere you go to eat you are sorrounded by these super processed, and very hard to diggest foods, like white bread, white sugars etc. These are true posions - these so called dead carbohydrates, that are so common in our life, are also the number one food for cancer. We drink a Pepsi or a Cola supposely for refreshment, and have no clue that not only we are not crunching down the thirst, but we are destoying our digestive system by injecting unwanted pepsine, and dead sugars that are very hard to digest. Gov. needs to interfere since the public is very ignorant of this matter. After all we are all paying the price of this degenerated food culture, with our health insurance premiums, and doctor's bill. We need to take action now, and possibly outlaw the use of white flour and white sugars.
