Guest guest
Meat might be gross, but it sure tast good;-). I am not likely to give it up completely. I very rarely eat it, but each time I go back to the states i have a favaorite restraurant I hit for scallops and a 4 oz rare steak with woodchips. you can smell the wonderful smell of the woodchips when you walk in the door. When I hit OC in May the first place my daughter and I hit is our favorite seafood restaurant right on the water for lobster and crab, she gets one I get the other and we share. Then the next day the medical begins:-) Here in Germany i can buy all meat and Chicken, turkery that is organic at the local store. store. there aren't any big markets here like safeway, pavillion, or whatever the grocery store might be there. people here don't shop for groceries once a week, but daily or several times a week for freshness. Lots of small meat markets. Never tried a salmon burger, sounds good, love salmon and get wild salmon from scotland, not sure what that means, but appears to be the best. You have to have some enjoyments in life I never really cared much for meat, always preferring veggies and fruits over meant anytime though never knowing that was the best way to eat. Never cared for junk food, and still got cancer. I watch what I eat most of the time, but enjoy those other times also. And I always enjoy a good Veggie burger, thought you have to make it yourself. I have NEVER found one in the stores that was any good. Though there is one place neat South Coast Plaza in Newport that has a little like a hot dog stand, but it is veggie burgers and they are grrreat!! Tony and Lu c'mon over to germany and I will take you to the best place in the world for schnitzel, but you have to bring Savannah:-). I'll be here one more year...I think. One never knows for sure. We all care about our health or we wouldn't be on this list, but one has also to have some enjoyment. Tony, Enjoy that family land and family, Ted and I are looking for that again, been overseas too long. Missed too much! Thanks for thr grilling tips, hubby LOVES to grill, though it doesn't happen very often. Hugs, Barbara N Germany Tony, What... no veggie burgers? At the very least I hope the meat was organic and pasture raised. G o d only knows what they feed cattle now... mostly GMO corn and soybeans most likely, with some antibiotics thrown in for good measure. Try a salmon burger next time... they're delicious. Guest guest
Barbara, Enjoyment is relative.... I thoroughly enjoy eating a good veggie burger or a simple bowl of miso soup with sushi made from brown rice, seaweed, and avocado as much as you enjoy that steak. That being said, it's perfectly fine to eat lean meats on occasion so long as they are organic with no antibiotics, hormones, or GM organisms in them. Most cattle are fed GM corn and soy, which isn't good. Vegetarianism is healthful but not necessary for health. Organically produced food, no matter what it is, is far more important. Guest guest
Bob, you have me drooling:-) That sounds absolutely wonderful. Love Miso soup and love sushi, though eat it rarely, never thought of making my own. I actually don't like to cook. I wish I could find a place that would make and deliver vegan food to me, that would make me happy. I could find that in the states, but can't find it here. I have looked. Perhaps if I spoke the language better it might be possible. I have a vitamix, and a 9 drawer dehydrator and all the sprial slicers etc, but do not make much. i just never cared for the kitchen. I always told hubby he could build me a house without one...just put in a pool:-). i eat seaweed every day and love avocado, eat them with a spoon and of course in salads. I do make green smoothies for breakfast, and fresh oj. I make a banana/tangerine smoothie for hubby and I at night. He loves it. That vitamix is the best investment I ever made. I have had it for over 14 years and it works as well now as it did when I bought it. The dehydrator was probably one item I will not get my $ worth from. I just don't use it...too lazy:-) You are so right about the meat in the states. It is sad to think what they feed those poor animals. I can buy pretty much anything here organic and that is so nice to go to the local store to buy organic although i do hit the farmer's markets on Saturdays. Have a blessed day. It is so lovely here and the sun is STILL out!! barbara N germany I do have a great recipe (i think) for veggie burgers that are pretty darn good.--- On Sat, 4/10/10, Bob Banever <bbanever wrote: Barbara, Enjoyment is relative....
