Colon Cleanse

Hi Pam,

My personal best experience with that was colon hydrotherapy. A series

of colonics, properly done, did me a world of good.

I was wondering if anyone had a good program or something that they

especially liked and think worked on colon cleansing and detoxing the

body? I've been doing a major search on it on the net - but have come up

with SO MUCH and of course it seems like everyone has the best

supplements/vitamins/program diet to buy....just thought I'd see what

the REAL experts had to say on the subject :-)

Herbal Remedies - colon cleanse

I have been using an oxygen based product to cleanse my colon. It has complex magnesium, organic germanium-132 and natural citric acid listed as ingredients. The recommended dose is rather harsh. Left me with stomach cramping and a lot of bubbling so I cut the dose in half and acheived 1-2 bowel movements a day for about 7 days. Have had nothing for the last two days, but my stomach is soare and I feel the pressure of having to go, and I was up all night with indegestion. Have I made matters worse by using this product?

Sorry Melanie, colon cleanse ( or any other cleanse) is not recommended while pregnant.

I'm not sure if Intestinal Cleanse #1, just by itself, might be okay to take while pregnant as that would handle your constipation? Check with Doc on that.

Have you tested which foods are causing the constipation?

Melanie...

As a formerly pregnant mom (10 times no less ;-0) I have encountered this problem.

I finally found that the combination of chlorella and Carlson's Lemon flavored Cod liver oil did the trick.

How? Why?

Beats me...but, it worked!

Call it dumb luck ;-).

Peace and Health..

__________

Melanie,

According to my reading...the answer is absolutely not!

(Mucoaggressive herbs stimulate cleansing reactions)

A constipation cleanse is more mild and acceptable.

For 2 large drinks (a day's supply):

Juice 1/4 head Green Cabbage,

3 stalks Celery with leaves

5 carrots with tops

Plus, try eating most of your organic fruit and vegetable choices raw.

Curtail your prepared/cooked food choices

....and buy an organic "Kefir" (a cultured milk product

that provides friendly intestinal flora) or Lactobacillus: there are several types of lactobacilli, including L. acidophilus, L. bifidus, L. caucassus, and L. bulgaricus, all beneficial bacteria that synthesize intestinal tract nutrients, counteract pathogenic microorganisms and maintain intestinal health.

Dear Melanie,

For the most part, I'd say you'd want to go easy on any cleansing regimen if you are preggers. There are too many factors, and these would need to be looked at before I'd tell any client of mine to do a cleanse. Questions such as: 1. How many months along? 2. Are you in good health to start with? 3. How strong a colon cleanse are you looking to do??? etc. etc.

For the most part, I'd just recommend "No" since you'd be taking too many chances with loosing the baby if you did. If a woman was very healthy to begin with, I might consider some light cleansing, but otherwise "no".

Since the fluid and fiber increase is not helping, I'd recommend you go over to a vegetarian diet, with plenty of fruit. Prunes are a great natural cleanser, and Watermellon is helpful as well. Start off with half a dozen prunes and if that doesn't help, up your dose to a dozen and even higher until you reach the desired result.

I'd stick with the food experiments.

Hope this helps.

Love,

Doc

Hi C-M,

Personally the safest and only type of colon cleanse I'll do is colon

hydrotherapy administered by a knowledgeable professional with many

years of experience.

I keep my colon in good shape with

a formula called Fiberzon, from Amazon Herb Company.

What makes it different is the large percentage of toning

and healing herbs, such as Una de Gato, but it has

NO laxative herbs at all.

It is designed for continuous daily use,

though quite frankly I don't see the point

of that if you had lentil soup for dinner

the previous night and Nature calls first

thing in the morning anyhow.

My fave Fiberzon story is the one by Bonnie

Selzer, MS survivor extra-ordinaire.

Bonnie went from being bed-ridden and house bound

to almost total quality of life, but her colon

remained stubbornly paralysed.

For years she could only eliminate with the help of

enemas.

After 3 months of Fiberzon she had normal

bowel movements.

Bonnie has a website under construction.

Hi C-M,

Michael Tierra has a recipe for what he calls " Fat Burning Soup " at his website

(www.planetherbs.com, search for the fat burning soup under the Articles link).

My hubby's family has done this soup often for weight loss (it's one week long,

and has formerly been called the Cabbage Soup diet -- Tierra says

the diet is derived from one given at the Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital for

overweight heart patients to lose weight rapidly, usually before surgery, and he

gives a modified version).

I've done the diet, and really feel better afterwards. No sweets cravings for

quite

a while, and it makes you think about everything you put in your mouth.

Once when I was on it, I had an evening medicinal herb class and during break

mentioned (as I peeled my orange) that I'd been doing the diet that week. The

class instructor, who was good with western and TCM herbs, looked surprised and

whipped out a copy of the diet from her bag, saying it's such a good, cleansing

diet...

Even if you're not doing it for weightloss, it seems to get things straightened

out

pretty good in your system for a while, so if you're wanting a not-so-severe

cleanse

to try, this is a good one to consider.

This was posted a while ago, wondered if anyone had any ideas on this.

The original colon cleanse I did was the one from 'Blessed Herbs'. Repeated the cleanse 4 months later with home made formula: I still had plenty of digestive stimulator capsules and made shakes which I took 5 x daily with organic apple juice from:

Psyllium husks 8 parts

Apple pectin 4 parts

Bentonite clay 2 parts

Ginger powder 1 parts

However, the cleanse didn't seem to work as well and I wondered if this was maybe because my colon was already a lot cleaner the second time round or if I didn't have the above recipe quite right.

Any ideas?

It was a colonic at a wholistic- type of place - she just used water. I'd had

them before in other places and felt great after.

I did this one in December and I have never been the same.

My stomach (right below my rib-cage (above my belly button) is enormous (and I

am a small person). Gas is tremendous (which I never suffered from before). Also

strange things..I threw up violently the night that I had it, I've had very

visible veins in my arms since then, and bleeding hemorrhoids.

I wish someone could help me with this. It's been an awful few months.

Thanks.
