Guest guest
Greetings, My hands have been out of the blue stiffing up. My left hand did it once and out of the blue just stayed really stiff for 2 days. Months later, my right hand did it. It feels like my muscles are being tightened. When my right hand did it, it lasted for 2 and 1/2 days. Today woke up fine. Now in my right hand again stiffness. Feels iike it is tighting starting in my middle finger. I'm 47 female and yes work at keyboard. Any suggestions?

Guest guest
Hi: I had similar symptoms but mainly in the morning and they would be less troublesome during the day. I started taking 4 mg. of astaxanthin in the morning and evening which helped all my joints and I no longer had the hand problems. Also, I've read that low thyroid can cause symptoms similar to carpal tunnel syndrome. Martha , " JudyF " <jlbfitts wrote: > > Greetings, My hands have been out of the blue stiffing up. Guest guest
This sounds like a cervical spine issue. Find a good osteopath (or chiropractor, if an osteo isn't available), one that actually uses manual therapy (ie. touches you). They can be difficult to find in some areas, but worth it. If it continues, it would be well to seek out a functional based physician as this could be the development of something serious (eg. herniation or spondylosis) that may need to be assessed through MRI or CT scans. The nerve root associated with the middle finger is the 7th cervical, so you can also (in the meantime) use topical liniments in that area (ie. Traumeel, Tiger Balm, White Flower Oil, etc.), with a warm compress or heating pad. This will help. Lastly, issues with the hands such as yours with individuals who work at keyboards often have shoulder issues as well. Discus the possibility of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome as a contributor as well, i have seen patients resolve serious Carpal Tunnel with shoulder manipulation alone. There is obviously much more that can be said, but again, especially if it continues seek out competent professional help, if you are not satisfied with the first person you go to, seek out someone else. The analogy i often use is that if you were to hire a plumber who did a crappy job (sorry for the pun), you would not re-hire him, you would find someone who actually does what is required...the same applies to healthcare, they are in your service, not the other way round. All good things, Tymothy > Greetings, My hands have been out of the blue stiffing up. My left hand did it once and out of the blue just stayed really stiff for 2 days. Guest guest
Acupuncture. Is the pain worse at night? Does it appear in different places? Do your hands turn purplish? - " mds783 " <mds783 Sunday, April 25, 2010 4:34 AM Re: hand stiffness > Hi: > I had similar symptoms but mainly in the morning and they would be less > troublesome during the day. Guest guest
I know it probably sounds like a silly one when I don't know the proper name for them but my sister gets arthritis in her hands and she finds two things very helpful. 1. A small wheatbag just to warm your hands a bit, it's a gentler warmth and it seems to help ease the muscles up 2. Those Chinese balls that you roll in your hands that have the little bells in them. Best of luck Barbara --- On Sun, 25/4/10, Dr. DHMS <dr.dhms wrote: Dr. DHMS <dr.dhms Re: hand stiffness Sunday, 25 April, 2010, 5:27 Â I tell you that if you are really interested to get rid of then you have to go along classic homeopathy.
