Guest guest
My husband gets neck knots (from stress at work). Sometimes they get so bad that he can't function. They completely wear him down too. In the past the only thing that worked to get rid of the pain was a high dose of Motrin. However, now recently he tried that and came down with hives on his face. Since his body can't tolerate Motrin, I'm wondering what natural alternatives will help him (tylenol never worked the pain was so bad)? The pain is pretty bad, so we are looking for something pretty strong. Would love to hear any feedback. Thank you. Nicole
Guest guest
Hello -- having had this in the past, and ever so occasionally these days, I would suggest a visit to a good chiropractor and investing in a TENS unit (and getting the chiropractor to show you how to use it most effectively). They aren't very expensive anymore - one down here only cost me $50NZ. They are amazingly helpful with muscle tension and spasms. Guest guest
Does he get an actual knot or lump of muscle in that area, if so you might try Mucinex DM for it. Yes, /I know its a mucus med, but I get something similar and it effects my whole shoulder and arm and up one side of my face. I use to have to get cortisone for it. Then my doc, who believes in alternative meds suggested I try it. Within two days it was gone. Yes, I have to take it everyday to keep it from coming back but it got rid of the pain and I can use my left arm without any pain at all. I tried a lot of alternative pain things but they did not help or get rid of it. Actually dextromothorapan? prevents muscle wind up which is what causes the muscles to bunch up. This works great. It is over the counter. Use the DM one and not the generics. Hope this helps. / Nicole Nolte wrote: > > > My husband gets neck knots (from stress at work). Guest guest
Your husband might benefit from any form of body work. What has he tried in the way of massage etc? Emotional Freedom Technique might help too, google it, and check out that Amega wand thing, you never know. Do email the lady who says she has a better source. As for medications, the one thing that comes to my mind is Recovazon from Amazon Herb Company. It is a combination of relaxation and anti-inflammatory herbs that works miracles on some people, but does diddly for others. Worth a try, get the topical form too. I lost my distributorship with that company because they ditched all Canadians, so this is NOT a commercial post. I just loved those products, and keep thinking of health challenges with them in mind. Truly a superb line of stuff, except for the " Pure Camu " , which is overpriced and over- packaged. But we digress. Here is the website of my dear friend Anna Bond. http://29341.amazonherb.net Ien in the Kootenays http://kootenaygarden.blogspot.com http://backyardbusiness.info

Guest guest
Curcumin has a long history as an anti-inflammatory, especially with other herbs. One product that works well (and is currently going through a very large trial) is called Zyflamend. I believe it's the most sold herbal supplement in the country...we have quite a bit of pain, quite a bit of inflammation. I have personally used it and have given it to others and it works well. One thing to keep in mind is that sometimes the curcumin (tumeric) can increase peristalsis (ie. move the bowels along), which actually isn't a bad thing...but good to keep in mind. There is also a product called " Pain Relieve " by Pure Encapsulations, that has White Willow (the original aspirin), and also works well. Keeping in mind that both of these are profilactic and as others have mentioned it's well to treat the cause of the pain. Guest guest
Hi Nicole, I have great responses to essential oils for muscles and stress. I also have a " high stress " job, but also involves lots of intricate muscle work with my hands/shoulders/arms (animal dentistry and surgery) - so often my shoulders cramp up or my fingers will go tingly if I don't address the strain of a 4 hour surgical procedure. One tip - not all essential oils are alike. Really make sure you do get a medical quality oil, especially if he is a hive producer. Usually, men will really hate the smell if they get one that has synthetic additives or diluents in it. Lavender and Marjoram are excellent for spasms and muscle relaxation - however, lavender is the most commonly adulterated and cheap " crap " out there The stress relief combined with muscle help is heavenly in my eyes. I can give you some " men friendly " smell combos if you would like. I use oils medically in our animal hospital - so have a wide variety of great acting oils, but horribly smelling oils. Generally I can pick which ones will give you a good effect, but not make your husband stink like a garden. Hope this helps Melissa Shelton DVM The " Oily " Vet > > - > " Nicole Nolte " <nicolenolte@ sbcglobal. net> > <> > Monday, April 19, 2010 10:01 AM > Pain Medicine > > > My husband gets neck knots (from stress at work). Guest guest
Nicole, I think all these ideas would work, it depends on your husband and what he will tolerate or would agree to. Essential oils are awesome, but they work " After the Fact " on a neck that has already gotten knotted. I recently wrote a book on essential oil recipes, and it includes several massage and pain recipes that work wonderfully on stiff achey muscles. You could use oils to relieve the knots when he gets home, but you might address the cause of his knots - is he sitting at a computer all day, or cradling his phone on his shoulder all day? Simply modifying some habits would help, as well as taking 3 - 5 minutes every few hours to take his neck through range-of-motion stretches to prevent the muscles from knotting in the first place. Then maybe follow up with a nice neck rub from a loving wife when he gets home... (or even a nice full body massage... I doubt he would object to the flowery smell in that scenario! ) I hope he finds relief! Guest guest
************************************************ According-To A Re-Search Program, Using Computer Monitor with Dark Background, Cuts Down Harmful Radiations Significantly. ************************************************ GRANT MERCIFUL RADHASOAMI THY GRACE AND PROTECTION ************************************************ Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 6:07 AM [indian Standard Time] My Dear Nia Von Toth, Please accept my hearty Radhasoami. This has reference to your email-message attached here-in-under. Regarding the pain and knots in the neck of your husband due-to Stress-Tension-Fatigue-Fears-Anger, I suggest as-follows: 1. He should take bath with 20 Liters of luke-warm-water, wherein 100 grams of common-salt has-been added. This results in excellent aura cleansing, and can prevent Stress-Tension-Fatigue-Fears. This is for therapeutic [healing] purpose and This is also for prophylactic [preventive] purpose. 2. You should place a burning candle in his bed-room every-day for at-least one hour at 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. local-time. This is for therapeutic [healing] purpose and This is also for prophylactic [preventive] purpose. 3. He should Practice-Internal-Spiritual-Meditation every-day without-fail. This will result in lowering Internal Stress-Tension-Fatigue-Fears-Anger, and eventually, lower his Stress-Tension-Fatigue-Fears-Anger, which is the root-cause of his pain & knots in the neck. This is for therapeutic [healing] purpose and This is also for prophylactic [preventive] purpose. If he has not practised such Meditation before, then please let me know so-that I can send to you written instructions on how-to Practice-Internal-Spiritual-Meditation. 4. Before going to bed at night, he should place his legs up-to just bellow the knee, in comfortable hot water wherein 100 grams of common salt has-been added. This will result in improved sleep so-that Stress-Tension-Fatigue-Fears-Anger are reduced over a period-of-time. This is for immediate [symtomatic] relief. 5. During his alt-med treatments he should continue Allopathic Pain Relief Medicines prescribed by a qualified-authorized-competent-experienced medical physician who knows his medical history. Whenever the Stress-Tension-Fatigue-Fears-Anger are high, and they result in severe pain along-with knots in the neck, the best remedy would-be to call an qualified-authorized-competent-experienced Allopathic Doctor and request him to give an appropriate intra musclular pain-relief [analgesic] injection, for quick relief. According-To-My-Pendulum-Dowsing, here-now; subject-to your local Doctor’s consent, an injection of Ibuprofane or Vovran should help. This is for immediate [symtomatic] relief. 6. Off-The-Shelf Non-Prescription Homeo-Pathy [Pre-Energized for 1 hour by placement of the suggested Homeo-Pathy remedy on PyrAmid©-Geometric-Energy-Pattern available without any cost on the Web-Site: www.harmony000.org] * suggested Homeo-Pathy *Ignatia Amara 200 CH Potency * 3 tea-spoons, by way of very light local-application, at the site of pain and knots, as-also upon the whole spine. [Twice-a-Day *Every-Day* Without-Fail] This is for therapeutic [healing] purpose. 7. He should do appropriate neck and shoulder exercises as guided by an qualified-authorized-competent-experienced Physio Therapy Doctor or a qualified-authorized-competent-experienced Orthopaedic Doctor. This will improve the muscle strength of the neck and shoulders. This is for prophylactic [preventive] purpose. 8. All the afore-stated treatments are to-be practised every-day, regularly, without-fail, even on days when he does not have any pain and knots. Please feel free to get in touch with me any-time for more information and assistance. I wish you all the very best of every-thing in life. Adieu, Love, Light and Hearty Radhasoami.
