Guest guest
I just read on doctoroz.com that selenium is good for anxiety. Brazil nuts would be good because they have a lot of selenium in them says Dr. Oz. - annie Friday, March 05, 2010 1:13 PM getting off anti depressants my M-I-L is getting off her anti depressant celexa. she is going off slowly and is doing well.. she is taking semde and agar 35 and will be taking this in place of the celexa. she is experiencing some anxiety now as the celexa leaves her body. anyone have any advice on how to curb the anxiety naturally? calming teas? herbs? anything? Guest guest
Bio- a.k.a. human- identical progesterone cream, which works at the same receptor sites in the body that Valium uses in order to produce the calming effect, with no unwanted side effects. A great description I found at http://www.highlandpharmacy.com/id64.html: 'Progesterone is sometimes referred to as the " feel good " hormone because of its mood-enhancing and calming effects. Progesterone plays an important role in brain function. There is as much as twenty times more progesterone in the brain cells than in the blood stream. When progesterone is metabolized, it binds with gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) receptors in the brain. GABA is an amino acid that acts as a neurotransmitter (a chemical transmitter of information between nerve cells) and has a calming effect on the brain (thus the " feel good " hormone). Low levels of progesterone can cause increased feelings of anxiety, irritability, and sometimes even anger.' Many brands are quite expensive, but the one we sell where I work (a compounding pharmacy that works with bio-identicals on a daily basis)can be ssen here: http://doc-nt.com/dnt/dynamic/Product/63053.html. At the recommended dosing, it's about a 3-month supply. Wishing the best, Judy , " annie " <orfanannie69 wrote: > > my M-I-L is getting off her anti depressant celexa. she is going off slowly and is doing well.. she is taking semde and agar 35 and will be taking this in place of the celexa. she is experiencing some anxiety now as the celexa leaves her body. anyone have any advice on how to curb the anxiety naturally? calming teas? herbs? anything? >
Guest guest
I had depression before and tried the typical approach with pharmaceutical medication, it did work for awhile but there were many times I felt abnormal with all those extra chemicals floating around in me. I did not look forward to taking drugs my whole life. Eventually I gave them all up, started to really believe in myself as normal and that there was nothing wrong with ME, what was wrong was all the things I was experiencing in the world. Alot of the experiences we deal with in the world do suck, that doesn't mean I am depressed, the problem is in the world not me. What really did work was exercise. Regular daily exercise for about 35 min to 1 hour has shown to decrease depression. The exercise needs to be intense enough to increase your heart rate to about 75% for at least 25 min. Regular exercise also has shown to slow down the age related shrinkage of the brain often associated with mental health problems.   I would try seeking a personal trainer and getting off the presciptions. --- On Sat, 3/6/10, Lynn <vista222 wrote: Lynn <vista222 Re: getting off anti depressants Saturday, March 6, 2010, 7:36 PM  I just read on doctoroz.com that selenium is good for anxiety. Guest guest
I have very little anxiety but I do have some, I also have insomnia and depression. I do not do well with anti-depressants and talked to my doctor about it. He has me using an Alph-Stim machine. I am sleeping better than I have in years. I am still new on the machine and I was skeptical about it helping at all. I rented it for 2 months and am now buying it with my two months of renting going towards the purchase price. I am beginning to feel more energetic also. I can get you the web site of the place I went through if you would like to think of this as an option. This site had some good information and appeared to be well rounded in its information. It is a machine that works with harmonic pulses delivered through your ear lobes.
