My husband has been getting upper respiratory infections year round.

They last for two weeks out of every month. First he tries to cure

himself then he sees his Dr who gives him antibiotics and almost

immediately he's fine. His symptoms are always the same, coughing, loss

of voice, hacking phlem, and sometimes bronchitis. This has been his

cycle for about 5 years now. He wears a Cpap (sp?) every night and I

believe this is what makes him sick. He only changes the filter as

recommended (every 6 months) and gets a new hose and mask 1x year. I

keep after him about cleaning it but he doesn't believe the Cpap is what

is making him sick. Do any of you experience Cpap sickness?

My mom uses one of those devices and she's had a cough for about a month or so

now. I never thought it could be that but it's something to look into. Let me

know if you find out anything and I'll do the same.

We had one in our household as well for years. It triggered none of these

issues and things weren't changed any more frequently. But everyone's

sensitivities are different. In our case respiratory issues as a whole remained

a struggle. Did your husband's symptoms begin soon after the Cpap was started?

It's very possible his whole respiratory system really needs a better answer and

his body is trying to indicate that, as Cpaps are really only a forceful

'band-aid' for apnea.

I have used a cpap for 6 years with no problems, but I clean/replace my

filter once a month and wash my hoses once a week with vinegar and mild

soap. Mold grows in most machines if not cleaned properly and will

cause all of those problems. Does he have a water overpass? If so that

needs to be cleaned at least once a week also. Hope this helps.

Hi Lily,

There's a remedy that should work very well for him.

Start taking 2 grams (2000mg) at breakfast and dinner of Vitamin C.

At noon, take 1 Solgar VM-75, plus 500-600 Calcium Citrate and the same

Magnesium Citrate. The results should be very fast and relieve him very

quickly.

I get my Vitamin C at Costco, and it's about the same at Walmart. VM-75

is available at most health food stores.

If allergy stress is part or most of the problem, then take a good look

at my htt://drbate.com website for more free alternate health info.

Thank you all for your great information. My husband just picked up his

new hose and mask and I believe I have convinced him to clean the hose

at least every 2 weeks. He is also taking 2000 mg Vit C in AM and PM.

I noticed his " cold " was gone without a trip to the Dr's last week -

this was a first in years! Lets hope he keeps it up!
