Guest guest
There is actually an Herbal Skin Care for Business course. It is through Heart of Herbs - www.heartofherbs.com. In it's description, the website states: " This program is based on our intensive training sessions for those wanting to own, operate and formulate for an Herbal and Aromatherapy Skin Care Business. " They also have an aromatherapy and advanced aromatherapy classes. I also think Jeanne Rose's course covers bodycare (www.jeannerose.net). And the Pacific Institute of Aromatherpy course, which I believe was developed by Kurt Schnaubelt, has an entire part devoted to regenerative skin care and formulations. You can also go to the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy for a list of schools and distance education which meet their Level 1 and/or Level 2 criteria. I am going next week to Florida to take a course which meets both of these guidelines. If you would like any info on it, please email me off group. Guest guest
I got certified at " The School of Natural Healing " in Utah, I did it more for the knowledge, since my understanding is that a certification in Aromatherapy doesn't allow you to do anything someone not certified can do. I still go to classes, or seminars to keep learning. I did like the leasons, and the tests, I sometimes need the structure to force myself to learn things I don't HAVE to know right at this moment. I went through this school because that is where I got certified in herbs. Guest guest
Unless things have changed while I wasn't looking, aromatherapy is not a " certified " field that is recognized by any state authority. Yes, you can take a course and receive a certified for completing the course and you can even call yourself an aromatherapist, but you aren't certified in a way say I'm a certified nurses aide that is recognized by the State of California. It always helps to take an accredited course in aromatherapy if you are going to be working with essential oils, especially in skin care. Just be careful who you sign up with because there are a number of people and schools out there who would love to charge you a nice chunk of change and lead you to believe that you can call yourself a Cert. Aromatherapist like you're endorsed by state authority. The natural health field loves to invent alphabets and certifications you can throw behind your name to induce customers to trust you. Martin Watt gives an excellent aromatherapy course you can check out at www.aromamedical.com. I've pretty much checked out every school out there and his course is the best for what you get. Here in Canada you can even put all those wonderful letters behind your name even if you never have taken a course. Why? Because no one really knows if they have taken a course or not. Anyone can make up a certificate on a printer and use any name of a school they want because you can never go back and check it out. Schools come and go and who know if they even keep records of all the " graduates " anyway. It may be different in other countries or in other parts of Canada. It may even be better out there since I first started this long journey. But I have even know councelors work without proper credentials. Sad in this day and age that people still get hooked in from people who have no credentials at all but their word and this day their word does not count for much anymore. In my day your word was honoured and integrety meant something in a persons character. Sad to say most of that has gone by the wayside these days. Guest guest
Does anyone know of a good blend to burn in the oil burner for anxiety and relaxation. Thanks Maree
Guest guest
Maree, You will get much better results if you diffuse and not use an oil burner. The heat will destroy the " healing " qualities of real therapeutic grade essential oils. Bergamot, lavender, lemon, cypress, cedarwood are all good for anxiety. Release is a blend that is great for stress, anxiety and relaxation. It also smells wonderful, and can be used in conjunction with meditation, or other healing modalities. I used it with a Sacred Healing Meditation this morning with a client. If you want more information on any of these, please let me know. I've used a lot of them for about 20 yrs, and can tell you the best, (and least expensive) books to learn more.  Sandy ________________________________ Maree <maree6692 Mon, February 1, 2010 4:13:12 PM Aromatherapy  Does anyone know of a good blend to burn in the oil burner for anxiety and relaxation.
