Guest guest
Question: Are nightshade veges such as tometoes, potatoes, eggplants are really bad for health?? They are for SOME people. For example people with rheumatoid arthritis often do better if they avoid them. On the other hand, many hale and hearty folks thrive on good whole potatoes and tomatoes etc. In the Yukon gold rush raw potatoes were worth their weight in gold. The answer is always in YOUR body. Pay attention and play with your food. Avoid nightshades for a few weeks and see how you feel. If you are asking on behalf of someone else, likewise. Stop eating them for a while and later include them in your diet one by one, such as one per week. - smit Wednesday, January 06, 2010 8:50 PM Nightshade vegetables? Guest guest
Hi- The nightshade family includes the alkaloids tobacco, chiles, potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, belladonna. Some are the customary accompaniments to a meat based diet but have curious properties. Potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, chiles are all acid forming, so is meat. This gives the lie to the lifestyle of citified people. Older and wiser traditions, say Macrobiotics, tell us: Base your alkaline vegetarian diet on small grains and avoid nightshade vegetables. (I am aware that the manner of food preparation can alter and improve raw foodstuffs) , smit <smit197 wrote: > > Are nightshade veges such as tometoes, potatoes, eggplants are really bad for health?? > > > > > > > > /subs_invite > > _________ > To ADD A LINK, RESOURCE, OR WEBSITE to Alternative Answers please Go to: > > http://health./links > > ___________ > > Post message: > Subscribe: - > Un: - > List owner: -owner > _______ > Shortcut URL to this page: > http://health. > > > > > Your email settings: Individual Email|Traditional > Change settings via the Web ( ID required) > Change settings via email: Switch delivery to Daily Digest | Switch to Fully Featured > Visit Your Group | Terms of Use | Un >
Guest guest
Hi, What I understand is that if a person is " allergic " to the nightshade vegetables, they could cause some problems. I am one of these people. I have practically stopped eating these delicious vegetables, because they caused my joints to hurt very much. As silly as it may be, I have some once in a long while and the pain is terrible. I have arthritis, but if I stay away from the nightshade vegetables, I am pain free. Of course, there are other items that cause problems for me, like sugar and processed foods...I don't know if people, who are not " allergic " (there may be a better word), have problems with these vegetables too...
