Guest guest
Hello -- we've been trying to deal with this for about 2 months now. I'm starting to think that it's stress exacerbating a small seasonal allergy problem, as my son is a very intense young man and has never, even as a baby, handled transitions well. He's 17 and will be starting university in February, and that's his greatest worry now. His symptoms - the sinus congestion is deep in his sinus cavity, and switches from side to side, but predominates on the left. He's had a little bit of watering from the left eye in recent days, but he's also been doing nasal lavage twice a day, and I'm thinking that has helped cause that. He has had on and off discharge from both ears, but again predominately on the left. It is a clear discharge, and tends to crust up at the opening of his ears. I know ear discharge can be linked with the liver, so that is one of the things we have supported in trying to treat this. What we've tried so far and results: chiropractic adjustments on his neck have given instant relief, but it was all blocked up within 24 hours. Cranio sacral treatment helped somewhat, and for longer, but it went back to being very congested within a week. Cayenne pepper in water 2-3 times a day gives him some quick relief but doesn't last more than 15 minutes. Nasal spray (the chemical kind that works instantly) worked for a couple of weeks when it was really keeping him from sleep, but he and we didn't want him to continue that much longer than a couple of weeks. He's taking eyebright on the recommendation of a medical herbalist but it does not appear to be having any affect after 10 days' use so far, he has used kali bich with no results, he takes mega doses of Vit C (8K mg/day) also on the advice of the medical herbalist, b complex, and a liver support complex. GP just wants to give him antibiotics and steroids, neither of which he wants to take (he's never had to use either and would like to keep it that way). He eats a very healthy diet, little sugary foods, drinks raw goats' milk, does eat meat, but it's all home-produced with no chems or hormones, big eater of fruits and vegetables and we all eat very little wheat. It is seasonal allergy season here in the Southern Hemiphere, but he has never had a reaction such as this, and even when we got in the hay a couple of weeks ago, he was having no reaction to it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm really beginning to worry about this turning into a bad sinus infection, and also worry about the affect it has been having on his sleep. Guest guest
Thanks, Cheryl -- he's already doing the nasal lavage 2x/day, already wears all natural fibers (all the time), bedding is cotton flannel, he hasn't used shampoo or conditioner in over 2 years, and the handsoap we use, is a natural goat's milk soap (made by an acquaintance, so I know what's in it). We're all really puzzled by this. We are seeing a naturopath next week, because it's gone on far too long, and he's getting stressed because he can't breathe properly (and he starts university full time next month, so he really wants it to go away by then).
