Guest guest
The only info that I am aware of is a neutraceutical called Ocuvist from Eniva corp. The usage of nutrition is recognized as a way to stave off this one. Later Mike W. See: http://www.medicalacupuncture.org/aama_marf/journal/vol16_3/article6.html and: http://www.alstonclundgrenmd.com/ I have used Lundren's protocol, somewhat modified (without estim from ST2 to LR14), with good results. It bascially looks like CM (Lr channel and local), though he tries to explain in terms of nervous system. He also claims threading a long, thin needle under the eyeball from St2 towards the optic nerve then gives estim from Lr14 to the optic nerve. But my understanding is that estim current takes the path of least resistance, not just from where the tip of the needle is; i.e. probably wherever in the tissue fluid carries the current. A good take-off Dx possibility is blood deficiency, as nourishing the blood helps the eyes, and macular degeneration is said to involve vascular atrophy. No doubt others will have much to add. Guest guest
A great deal can be done to halt/prevent macular dgeneration and I know that opticians in the UK are actually now carrying a product that is recommended for this - there are a lot of other companies that will do similar preparations all of them natural. I would say do a good thorough search of the subject and it will give you a mountain of information that you will then have to choose from. Just type in macular degeneration into your search engine and I know that it will bring up pages of information. Guest guest
please check out the book, " 14 SuperFoods " ...this book was written by an eye surgeon who found out that when people followed certain diets, they avoided certain eye diseases. sorry I cannot remember the author's name at this time ---- marianne2406 wrote: > > A great deal can be done to halt/prevent macular dgeneration and I know that > opticians in the UK are actually now carrying a product that is recommended > for this - there are a lot of other companies that will do similar > preparations all of them natural. Guest guest
I'm not sure about Toronto and where your patient is, but there is an opthamology specialist here in NJ. His name is Andy Rosenfarb and he is in Westfield, and he also just published a book on treating eye disorders with TCM. Hi website is http://www.acupuncturehealth.net/. Guest guest
The dark red berries - like bilberry and also pycnogenol help but will not reverse wet macular degeneration - and olive oil, coconut oil - organic - and ghee are meant to be good oils to use. Guest guest
I know coconut oil is OK - but I really don't like everything tasting of coconut - how do you overcome that Clare? So I tend to use olive oil or butter and love to splosh a bit of Pumpkin Seed oil in at the last minute - Melrose make it - allegedly from Austria!! Not sure why Aussies can't product their own pumpkin seed oil!! Guest guest
Well thats true - China rules the shelves - my coconut oil is meant to be organic and odourless but I find it strong ......... butter is nicest and ghee good for frying if you fry - I hardly ever do ........ I think I bought a heap of coconut oil from Paddy Melon too but haven't got to it yet ......... Guest guest
Acupuncture. Find someone good who also does herbology. Could be a liver yin deficiency, depending upon the pattern.
