Guest guest
Hello, Finally decided to try the nasal irrigation. The squeeze bottle came with a pre-mixed packet. After doing just one nostril, I had to stop because I began to sneeze uncontrolablly. The sneezing lasted a couple hours afterward. Then came the post-nasal drip and then came the asthmatic episode. To stop the chaos, I had to take my prescribed inhaler - which I use maybe once or twice a month (mild asthma). I have not read anyone experiencing these side effects. Am I missing something? Did I do something wrong? Is this what I have to look forward to when I nasal irrigate? What an awful awful experience. Advice please! Many thanks in advance. Guest guest
A'yoka, Did anyone ever answer you to explain how to do the nasal irrigation? I've used a neti pot, but prefer to snort it out of my hand. It needs to be warm water mixed with sea salt (about 1/8 tsp per 3/4 c of warm water). I just pour a small amot in my hand, and then snort with one or both nostrils, til it even goes in my throat to clean everything out. When you accustomed to it, then tilt your head to get it in the upper sinus cavities, too. Just email me if you have any other questions. Blessings, Sandy ________________________________ " Iroquoiswoman761 " <Iroquoiswoman761 Mon, December 7, 2009 5:49:28 AM Nasal irrigation difficulties  Hello, Finally decided to try the nasal irrigation. Guest guest
Thanks for the advice Sandy. I watched videos on youtube and researched for about 2 years before I got the courage to start looking for the equipment. I purchased the NeilMed kit. Initially, the solution I mixed was too strong. Very painful. Next day I used only half the packet contents and was able to tolerate the rinse. Just finished rinsing the right nostril *tilted my head to the side with my mouth open* and (as mentioned before) then I went on a sneezing jag - that caused the post nasal drip- that triggered the asthma. The nasal drip lasted for the week. As a result, I experienced asthmatic episodes daily (which is uncommon for me). Just as my inhalers would clear up everything, the post nasal drip would begin again a few hours later and the horrid cycle would start all over again. I really don't want to give up on this yet, because I have read so much positive feedback about nasal irrigation. So I figured that next time I would make my own solution. I have some sea salt handy. Hopefully, I will have different results next time. Now to find the courage to try it again! :-) A`yoka
Guest guest
I hope you do find the solution and don't have anymore bouts with the asthma.  Sandy The secret of making something work in your lives is, first of all, the deep desire to make it work; then the faith and belief that it can work; then to hold that clear definite vision in your consciousness and see it working out step by step, without one doubt or disbelief.. — Caddy ________________________________ " Iroquoiswoman761 " <Iroquoiswoman761 Sat, December 19, 2009 7:41:48 AM Re: Nasal irrigation difficulties  Thanks for the advice Sandy. Guest guest
My first thought is that since asthma is so scary -- such an emotional experience -- you might have some ready-to-wear fear going there. When that foreign substance, benign as it is, went into a part of your airways, maybe the whole force of your being reacted from all the way down in the reptile-brain, and rebelled. Have you ever tried " EFT " ? Simple finger-tapping techniques that are an extension of acupuncture. For me and for so many other people, it works so simply and easily. Doesn't cost anything either. One place you can learn to do it is emofree.com BTW, nasal irrigation keeps my sinuses cleared out. I use plain sea salt from the bulk section at Whole Foods -- heaping half-teaspoon in two neti-pots-worth of filtered water, heated in a little glass espresso pot over the gas burner on low. Once you get in the habit, it's very simple. good luck Joy , Iroquoiswoman761 wrote: > > > Thanks for the advice Sandy. > I watched videos on youtube and researched for about 2 years before I got the courage to start looking for the equipment.
