Guest guest
My husband has a deviated septum and is considering treatment (surgery). Does anyone have experience with this? Are there any suggestions for preparing for surgery (being put out) and for a quick and comfortable recovery? Are there alternative surgeries worth looking into? Thank you. Guest guest
I would personally have exhausted classical homeopathy, craniosacral, chiropractic, massage and nutrition changes first. Amazing things can happen even with structural/tissue problems. He can take homeopathic Arnica 30C before and after surgery for faster healing. Also helpful to drink only spring water, stop coffee, no dairy (except for raw, organic) and have alot of organic vegetables for several weeks. These will make a big difference. Guest guest
Thank you Liz, for giving me good ideas. Perhaps I can find a find a craniosacral therapist who could guide us in the right direction, and give us good advice. I agree that homeopathy would be great for helping to make surgery easier. Does anyone know of any resources for finding such a person who would specialize in alternative treatments for a deviated septum? Or any resources in finding a craniosacral therapist? We live in Brooklyn, but we'll take info on a doctor anywhere - maybe he knows someone in Brooklyn or Manhattan. Guest guest
Good luck. On finding someone for cranio - you can ask Osteopathic doctors (DO's)...a lot of them do it. Otherwise ask around the massage therapist community. Is there a natural practitioner guide there anymore? Use to be, forget the name now. There's a good center you can call in NJ for some info also...I used to practice there with them. Write me liz , " ronixo " <ronixo wrote: > > Thank you Liz, for giving me good ideas. Guest guest
Hello. YES I had this surgery. It was absolutely horrible for me. The doctor definitely did not explain all I would go through before the surgery. It has been several years, but there was no " comfortable " recovery nor was it very quick. I could not lay down for several nights and then could not breathe much for at least 10-14 days. Before the surgery though I could not breathe well through one side and now I can breathe fine, but I also now have multiple chemical sensitivities and can smell way too much. Don't know that the surgery had anything to do with that. So I would not expect a comfortable speedy recovery but I would expect to be able to breathe better when it is all over. I don't think I would do it now that I know what it involves, but maybe improvements have been made since I had it done. Good luck to your husband. Guest guest
Hi- There are no alternative surgeries. Surgery being an invasive procedure, is restricted to the medical profession. Stephen Jared, N.D.
