Hi

I have recently joined the group and have found it very useful, so far.

I hope someone is able to help with my query.

I have searched the database of this group but can't find what I'm looking for.

My eldest son is 6 years old and has suffered from eczema since about 6 weeks of

age. He has mutiple food allergies / sensitivities but still has flre ups that

cannot be linked to a cause.

He is currently having a major flare up and is considerable discomfort.

I am keen to keep him away from steriod creams as we had nasty experiences with

these when he was smaller.

I know many of his flares ups are emmtionally charged and we sadly lost his mom

in november from a long fight with breast cancer.

My query is, can any one suggest ANYTHING we could try to alleviate the itching

and subsequant sores / blisters / weeping and bleeding that he his suffering at

the moment.

Also can anyone suggest any alternative therapies that cn help reduce the

severity and frequency of the flare ups. I my self practice reiki which can help

with his emotional state, but I really need a pointer as to what therapies /

practices caould help in the long term.

Many best wishes

Nigel Evans

Fish oil, which has omega 3, would probably help.  Search the internet for a

child's dose. Keep it refrigerated, cause it goes bad fast, even though they say

capsules dont need to be refrigerated.   Maybe soaking in an oatmeal bath would

help too. Aveeno makes alot of products/lotions.

I'm not sure, but I think fish oil can lower the resistance somewhat to colds.

If you notice this, adjust the dose.  Best wishes.  I take fish oil daily and

have been for the past 3 years.  I'm an adult, but I know theres many brands out

there for kids.

camomile tea-with honey for soothing nerves-also a wash made from  cammomile tea

MAY help with the itch-helping to cool it down- there is a product called emu

oil (cream) which  has helped  someone i know  (IN AUSTRALIA)   diet is

important-plenty of water daily to flush kidney's-no synthetic  clothes or

sheets etc

keep a diary of every food intake- notice when a flare up occurs-what  he ate in

the previous  days and hours--absolutely no preservatives-eg cheap lollies- or

cordials- try  your local  health suppies-there is a cream a woman made here in

australia-her son had  the same -she experimented til she found a recipe that

worked-it becam e big here-but i don't know the name-filing all this-see a good

naturapath
