Guest guest
I'm wondering can people get worms/parasites or whatever from housepets, like cats or dogs. My kitty has worms, not sure what kind for sure, maybe tapeworms. ICK!!! I love my kitty but I can't stand this. Seems she's constantly getting them. She goes outside and hunts. I can't keep her inside. I don't want my 21 month old to get sick from this or even any of us. Also, how do we tell for sure if we did get them? Thanks, Holly -- I'm a work-at-home-mama. Guest guest
I've never heard of anyone getting worms from pets. They get them because they ingest the fleas they are trying to rid themselves of. You can get viruses such as ring worm. Diluted iodine swabbed on the ring worm for several weeks will kill it off more effectively than the expensive medicines (I know from first hand experience - thanks Mom.) herbal remedies , " Holly@T... Guest guest
You can get giardia from pets. If your dog or cat has it, it is recommended that you be checked for it. However, with Golden Seal being so effective against it, I usually just take a few days of the herb if we have an outbreak in our home. Giardia is easily killed in the environment by good drying out of all the soiled stuff, treatment of the infected animals and good washing out of their water bowls. Be certain the animals drink clean water, not from puddles or outdoor tanks. As for ringworm, it is not a virus, but a fungal infection. Never use iodine on a cat. Iodine is very effective on humans, horses and dogs, but since cats lick themselves, never use it on them, as it is very poisonous to their rather primative livers. A bit of bleach water rubbed on the spots then rinsed well will do just as much good as iodine for cats. Guest guest
That's right - I did mean fungus. Thank you for the correction. Oddly enough when my cat brought in ringworm, she didn't have it - she just carried it. So, I didn't have to treat her. I have a friend who uses boric acid on her pets for fleas and has said this is safe. Do you know whether or not it is? herbal remedies , Jacque Brown <bastcats> wrote: > > You can get giardia from pets.
