I found temporary relief from brain fog that might help you, too. It's detailed in " Natural Detoxification: A Practical Encyclopedia " (Jacqueline Krohn, MD, & Frances Taylor, MA; Hartley & Marks Publishers, PO Box 147, Pt.Roberts, WA 98281, $24.95), p. 406. The authors have a practice in New Mexico. It references a citrus drink and " Polari tea " flush by Christopher Hobbs, a master herbalist and acupuncturist. I tried it once, and was able to eat dairy products w/o brain fog for several days. I'm going to try it for the recommended 10 days to see if it cuts the fog more severely. I'm posting it in case you'd like to try it. Krohn's book is a bit scary, claiming there are toxins in everything we eat, and includes horror stories of people who've used the authors' methods and discovered they'd had parasites for years, etc. Many of the authors' assertions aren't explained, making readers wonder about their claims. They say not to take an enema with tap water (I discovered later that's b/c city water is chlorinated, which kills the good bacteria during this process). They should've explained why. The authors claim coffee enemas are good for you and were practiced for centuries until a few decades ago. This is portrayed as something that should still be practiced ( " bleeding " was done for centuries too!). I dismissed their claims of the flush as they didn't say for how long to do it, but more explanation is in " Alternative Medicine Guide to Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, and Environmental Illness " (by Burton Goldberg and the Editors of Alternative Medicine Digest, 1998, Future Medicine Publishing Inc, Tiburon, CA 94920, p.148), and thought I'd try it. Neither book gives the function of the herbs. I looked them up, wrote everything down, and promptly forgot where I put it or what it said. Perhaps you can relate? The Goldberg book says to take the citrus-tea flush for 10 days to flush out your liver. Stop for 3 days, then do it for 10 days more. Krohn (abv) then says a coffee enema is good (don't do it before the citrus-tea flush or you'll have a spastic colon for days, as I discovered!). I'll post the coffee enema details later if you want them. That's supposed to flush out the liver, too. THE FLUSH (2 PARTS) Citrus Drink 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice (can contain lime or grapefruit; lemon should be most of it though; 4 lemons give about 1 cup) 2 cloves garlic, chopped finely 1 Tablespoon (extra virgin or virgin) olive oil shredded ginger (use a cheese grater; no amt given; maybe a teaspoon's worth or less as it tastes strong) Mix and drink. (I did it in 3 gulps!) It's sour, but not too bad. Brush your teeth w/baking soda to neutralize the acid on your teeth! Wait 1 hour. Do not eat any foods during this time (no mention as to fluids). After 1 hour, drink 2 cups of Polari Tea: 1 Tablespoon fennel 1 Tbsp flax (unspecified form; I use the seeds) ¼ Tbsp burdock (unspecified form; I use the root) 1 Tbsp fenugreek ¼ Tbsp licorice ½ Tbsp marshmallow root (optional) (If you're making a big batch, the above comes out to ¼ cup of the herb mixture.) Simmer in 20 oz water (2 cups; use 2½ or 3 cups as the herbs absorb water) for 20 minutes. Add 1 Tbsp peppermint; simmer 10 minutes, then drink. It tastes pleasant. (You can make several quarts to drink later.) I ate the soggy herbs that remained to get everything out of them. Neither book says how long to wait before eating solid food. I wait about 1 hr. You'll feel the fog lifting throughout this process. Try it on a weekend to see how it affects you. They say it's " best " in the morning on an empty stomach; I did it then wks ago and last night before dinner w/o a problem. Neither drink made me sick or anything. WHERE TO BUY Buy lemons in the supermarket (2 for 78 cts) or at a farmer's market (3 for $1). They looked nicer in the supermarket, but both looked and tasted the same when cut open. Ginger is at Wegman's ($1.99/lb) or at a farmer's market (same price). Nature's Way sells it for $8.99/lb! Garlic is at a supermarket or farmer's market (cheaper at a f.m.). I squeezed the lemons without a rind grater (for making orange juice – remember those plastic thingy-ies made by Tupperware? Use one or you'll be sore doing it by hand!), but did it with a " Juicer " Sis got me for Xmas last night. (I didn't keep track as to quantity, as I peeled and skinned nearly 30 lemons and just wanted to get it done with before " Lost " and before it got too late!) Buy the herbs at a health food store as they're cheaper than online. They're usu. less than $1/oz. You'll be stunned at the mark-up on bottled herbs in the supermarket! (Highway robbery!) As I've been saying, dairy products give me brain fog, and no specialist has been able to tell me why. After I took this flush one Saturday morning before Xmas, I could eat dairy for about a week w/o brain fog. It gradually crept up on me w/in a wk, and my memory was a little better during that time.
