Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone knows of anything other than cranberry to help with this. I have never had one before, but now have had 3 in 2 months. While the cranberry supplement did help relieve the symptoms it did not get rid of the infection. Any suggestions? Thanks. Guest guest
I've had success with mega doses of vitamin C and alot of water. The C concentrates in your bladder and kills the bacteria. I think (it's been several years) I was taking about 3000mg/day. - redrdghood40 herbal remedies Wednesday, December 29, 2004 8:04 AM Herbal Remedies - bladder infections I was wondering if anyone knows of anything other than cranberry to help with this. Guest guest
My sister gets bladder infections more than anyone I know. Literally, if she doesn't drink enough water or drinks ONE can of pop she'll get one. Any time she feels one coming on she drinks cranberry juice. Cranberry juice has always stopped them in their tracks. - kathrynr448 herbal remedies Wednesday, December 29, 2004 6:31 PM Re: Herbal Remedies - bladder infections I've had success with mega doses of vitamin C and alot of water. Guest guest
This has been my big problem - bladder & kidney infections. After many months of trying everything in the world, here is what I've learned. Do not drink coffee or any type of caffeine. Stay away from chcolate, and any kind of sodas. Just don't drink sugary drinks, period. Besides water, drink only organic fruit & veggie juices, veggie broths, or organic herbal teas. Drink a lot of pure water - not tap water. Basically drink as much as you can handle. Drinking 16 oz of water with freshly squeezed lemon juice in the morning when you wake up is good for flushing the bladder out and helps keep it healthy. Raw, organic cranberry juice is really good - NOT the Ocean-Spray sugar-filled kind. Other herbs that are excellent for kidney/bladder stuff: Juniper berry, Uva Ursey, Danelion root (or fresh juice of dandelion greens), celery seed tea, and buku. Fruits and veggies that are good for preventing bladder issues are: watermelon, cucumber, parsley, and extra-virgin organic olive oil. Boost up your vitamin C, calcium, magnesium and potassium. Don't use regular salt - if you're gonna have any salt, make it Celtic Sea Salt which is healthy or use kelp powder to salt your food. This is very tasty in salad dressing. Hope this helps! Anyone with kidney or bladder issues, please email me. I've also found a great deal of success with accupuncture and chiropractic for kidney & bladder issues. Guest guest
With regards to a chronically occurring bladder infection, I had a friend who had one all the time. The big difference between my habits and hers was that she would work all day holding her urine and would only relieve herself once, maybe twice whereas I emptied my bladder at least 6 times in the same period of time. I read once that women tend to hold their water too long and thus create a breeding ground for bacteria. Drinking lots of water and organic unsweetened cranberry juice really helps because it keeps the urinary tract flushed out. Drinking soda adds sugar which feeds the bacteria. I have never had a UTI but I attribute my resistance to my diet which consists of a lot of garlic and New Mexican chilies. There is very little bacteria that can survive the presence of hot chilies on a regular basis, I am a firm believer. I've also never had the flu neither do I get colds very often. Also, as a diabetic, there is virtually no sugar in my diet but my urine has a lot of sugar in it because of my condition. Lots of people, women, in particular, could be insulin resistant without knowing they are, this would put a lot of sugar into the bladder because your body cannot use it so the kidneys throw it off. Insulin resistant people with tend to get UTIs because of the constant presence of all that sugar in their bladder and you do not have to be eating sweet foods. It might be prudent to have the urine tested to see how much sugar is present and to cut down on eating simple carb foods such as pasta, bread, rice and potatoes as well because they turn right into glucose in the body and then out through the bladder if there is too much present. I am speaking from my own experience because I was insulin resistant for years and no doctor ever told me I was. If you don't have a symptom western medicine does not look too hard for anything. Guest guest
I haven't tried this yet, had a hard time finding a cranberry juice without sugar, I think this is more of a preventitive: Of course drink your 8+ glasses of water (I just can't seem to manage 8 glasses of anything), take an 8 oz glass put in 6 oz of water & add 2 oz of pure cranberry juice & drink this daily. So for every glass of water = 6 oz water + 2 oz pure cb juice God Bless You & Yours, Georgia (HAHAgranny) ~~~Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but by the moments that take your breath away~~~ ~~~A friend hears the song in my heart & sings it to me when my memory fails~~~Pioneer Girls Leaders'
Guest guest
The health food stores have a concentrate of cranberry without sugar, it's what I use for maintenance after a bladder infection. C-M
