Guest guest
I have never felt safe with these things, and have never had one. Amazing how something (like a phone) that makes so much money for a corporation never seems to have ill-health effects. Flo ------------ Study: Mobile phone radiation harms DNA in lab MUNICH/AMSTERDAM, Germany/Netherlands (Reuters) -- Radio waves from mobile phones harm body cells and damage DNA in laboratory conditions, according to a new study majority-funded by the European Union, researchers said on Monday. The so-called Reflex study, conducted by 12 research groups in seven European countries, did not prove that mobile phones are a risk to health but concluded that more research is needed to see if effects can also be found outside a lab....read the rest of the story at: http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/ptech/12/21/tech.mobilephone.health.reut/index.html
Guest guest
Hi Flo I am a Radio Ham or as some people call us Amateaur Radio enthusiasts. I have known about, both Mobile phones and indeed microwave ovens for a long time. Think about this!, Microwave ovens run around 1.2 Ghz and cook food at about 800 Ghz (Gigahertz) Mobile phones run at aound 1 Gigahertz. Forget about the figures, just look at the numbers. See what I mean? Kind regards Jeff
Guest guest
Oh my Jeff, that is allot. The people who do these studies sure do protect their pocket books huh? Remind you of pharmaceutical companies? I keep thinking back to the members who use the foreman grills. I think you should check them..not because of the teflon, although I strongly suggest if you like breathing you don't use them, but because they are made of cast aluminum so far as I can tell. I went over to my old trailer (where I store cr*pola) and a magnet won't stick to my grill...so it isn't stainless. Guest guest
Ho Flo Teflon or PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) coating, is ok up to 500°C. At 600°C it starts to melt, at this temp, it starts to give off fumes, these fumes initially cause flue like symptoms. If one carries on absorbing these fumes, they can lead to death!!. PTFE was discovered on April 6, 1938 by Dr. Roy Plunkett at the DuPont research laboratories (Jackson Laboratory in New Jersey). I love cooking (although I am in a wheelchair), and I pride myself with buying (when we can afford it) top of the range cooking utensils. My wife bought me a chef's knife last year and paid the earth for it, then just a couple of weeks ago, it snapped!!, I was mortified. It had a lifetime guarantee on it, but it was made in Germany and do you think I can find the damn address of the place that is was made!!. I know she paid over £70 for it (thats $133.00 at todays exchange rate). She also bought me a full set of Brabantia saucepans and I love them. For Christmas, I know she has got me a very large Beech chopping board and another chef's knife. So you see that I just love cooking!. I have the recipe for the original Black Forest Gateaux (Swartzwalder Torte), and I make it every year for Christmas as the Christmas Cake, it is just awesome!. Anyway, as you can see I am just waffling on a bit, sorry. Have a great Christmas and a happy and Healthy New Year Kind regards Jeff
