Hi Eibhlin,

The only thing I have found to make roots into a fine powder is the Vita-mix, but it is quite espensive. A mortar and pestle should work also, but it is very labor intensive. Before I bought the Vitamix, I ordered the herbs I needed to be powdered as powder. I hope others will have some easier solutions for you.

Thanks Roni,

I kept on trying to powder those herbs.. I got most all done but the

Barberry root.. that is some tough stuff. I guess I'll have to try

it in the morter and pestle but don't know how far I'll get with

that. I know one thing I'll be ordering the roots in Powder from now

on..hehee..

Can you recommend a good source for buying herbs? I have good

health food stores in the area, but they don't carry the more exotic

herbs that I need for some recipes.

I would appreciate any suggestions you have for resources.

Hi Phyllis,

It should be able to make flour from sprouted grain. I haven't actually used it for this myself, but the manual says it can make flour from grain, so sprouted shouldn't be any different I wouldn't think. I have been very impressed with mine since buying it a few months ago. Hope this helps.

Hi Roni,

Do you mind if I asked where you bought your VitaMix and what you paid for it? I'm interested in getting one as well.

Thanks!

Here is a website that gives directions on how to sprout wheat so

you can mill and bake with it.

http://www.urbanhomemaker.com/articles/index.php?

page=index_v2 & id=265 & c=6

If the links does work - go to the http://www.urbanhomemaker.com and

click on breakmaking recipes and then click on sprouted wheat which

will take you to the directions to sprout and mill wheat.
