Got a question on trying to find a subitute disinfectant for

cleaning, instead of using regular 6%Sodium Hypochlorite. My idea was

trying to use six tlbs of seasalt to one quart of sterile water

(boiled). Then adding when cooled 3ozs of collidal silver, then one

ounce of h202.(maybe one tsp of teatree oil)

I'm wanting to do this mainly for my herbal baths or try to find a

more person friendy method. When I clean the tub the smell of Sodium

Hypochlorite is of course strong. So when I add water it seems to me

that the chemical would still be present. I'm trying to make the

herbal-mineral bath as natural as possible. Thanks for your time.

Hi Corrine

Are you asking for advice about cleaning your bath naturally or cleaning

yourself naturally? If it's the latter, then essential oils in the bath are a

great idea - and so are all these traditional soaps folks on this list make....

You can drop essential oils straight onto sea salt and then put the sea salt in

the bath water - double whammy of salt being cleansing and the essential oils

(Tea Tree's probably one of the strongest disinfectants). Or you can put the EOs

in half a cup of milk or a vegetable oil .... but that last method brings us to

cleaning the bath naturally ...! When I was in the US the other week, I saw that

eco-friendly cleaning products are widely available - these usually use less

chemicals, more 'friendly' chemicals and no artificial perfumes (my particular

pet hate). An old-fashioned cream cleaner rinsed off well is what I do ....

Best wishes

Hi Corrine,

I generally use some baking soda, maybe some borax too, mixed with some

of my liquid soap, hydrosol of my choosing (depends on my mood, but

oregano is quite " antiseptic " ) and some water. Cleans the house up

really well ... smells nice too :)

Also, I've discovered that those new Mr Clean Magic Eraser sponges can

get really hard stuff off of surfaces without any cleaners on it at all,

just water - stuff like soap scum and crayon, etc ... Its just a sponge

from a " miracle foam " type material - not impregnated with cleansing

agents, but it can certainly be used along with your homemade house

cleaners.

Thanks for your reply Jane you've given me lots to think about. I

was referring to cleaning the bath tub. Any advise given is well

taken I have no pride when it comes to learning. Thanks again,

Corrine.
