Guest guest
Hi, I just learned of this group from my mom, who is very educated in herbal remedies. I'm hoping somebody can help. I have been told by a urologist (MD) that my right kidney is " dead " (non-functinoing) and that I will have to have it taken out. Naturally i do not want to do this. A brief history - I had my first kidney infection a few years ago, and took antibiotics to handle it as the doctors didn't look any deeper to see if there was anything wrong. A few years later I had another kidney infection, characterized by severe pain on the right side. I again took antibiotics. I should have, at that time, gotten further x-rays and found out what was really happening. However I didn't. Six months later it happened again - this time on an airplane. I had severe pain and by the time I got off the plane I could hardly walk. I called an ambulence. In the emergency room they told me to see a urologist. Finally when I saw him he gave me a renal scan, and that told me that I had the following: hydronephrosis of the right kidney non-functioning right kidney UPJ (uterine-pelvic junction) obstruction, causing no flow through the kidney. They performed a surgery to unblock the kidney and insert a stent. While having the stent in I had a few more infections, but by this time I had wised up and decided not to go on any more drugs, after the side effects of the last antibiotic had horrible side effects (nausea, weakness and inability to eat for days.) I have been seeing a natural chiropractor/doctor who has me on natural supplements that prevent infection. However, yesterday I went back to the hospital to get results of a new x-ray that was done last week. At this time it's been 4 months since the stent was put in my right kidney. The doctors told me that my kidney was still not functioning, although now the obstruction, hydronephrosis and infection are all gone. It had been 1% functional 4 months ago, and it now has 3% function. This is apparently not enough to make a significant difference and the MD told me I will keep getting infections if I don't have the kidney removed. I need a miracle here - I do not drink coffee (as of June 1st, my visit to the ER) and I do not drink alchohol or smoke. I maintain a pretty good diet, no drugs, and I am taking about 50 pills a day - herbal supplements - to combat this. However it's not working fast enough. If you can help please email me. Thank you, Lane Eddington
