Satin...Thank you for posting the info sources. It is just not true from where I sit . I have three cats in the household who have been on garlic for a long time. Not all on the Internet or even from a Vet is correct data. There is missing data with the warnings like how much was given to the cats.Probably not the right dosage for their weight . I still maintain that the correct dose for their weight is fine.....Mary O

The research I've done is not all from the Internet - I've worked with my vets closely over the years - my vet has given me some first hand experience. Some cats, as I said, may tolerate it well. But it has been proven over and over to be fatal in the long term. Have you had your cats blood checked? Let's face it, an animal who sleeps 20+ hours a day is not always easy to spot as anemic <Grin>. A lady brought her cat into the vet for regular checkup, said she had always been sedentary. Heinz anemia, died shortly after. No idea she was not acting normally because she had "been like that since a kitten" and was fed garlic every day. Don't get me wrong, I adore garlic, it's one of my favorite herbs. But it won't go near any cat I own! I've seen the slides, I've seen the data and I've heard "I had no idea, they never acted any different" more than once.

They are certainly your cats to do with as you will, but I've seen the liver failure and the anemia and the chemical analysis at vets, vet school (leave near the 3rd largest in the nation). There is MUCH controversy, even among feline specialists about how much is "too much" and will kill. I've seen lab work, data, tissue samples and held sobbing owners. It's not an opinion, it is substantiated scientific fact, sorry. If yours manage to survive it, more power to 'em! I won't chance mine.

I used to think feeding "good quality" commercial cat food was good, too, until I found out differently. You live and learn.
