Dear Fab,

Try the Panther Piss Remedy in the Files.

Works wonders on a short term basis.

Then some serious cleansing is in order.

Greetings.

I've found over time (for me) that the remedy/cure for migraines is

found in prevention. I've had cluster and complex migraines since I

was 8 years old...(lets just say, I'm much older than 10 now..lol).

I've gone through various modifications over the years.

I've found, through discussion, that everyone who suffers from them,

has different triggers. Here are a few things that I've done that have

reduced my migraines dramatically.

Hopefully by sharing, you'll find something that will help.

no smoking.

limit alcohol intake or just avoid it.

no meat.

reducing dairy to a serious minimum.

getting enough rest.

being able to identify my stressors.

watching the way I breathe.

meditating.

watching myself around folks who wear strong parfum.

modify chocolate intake or just avoid it.

modify nuts or just avoid some of them.

increase on your green leafy veggies.

make sure there is no strain on the eye.

keep the neck muscles relaxed, devoid of tension.

using a Neti Pot to clean nasal passages.

colon cleanse.

Ever tried chinese wild chrysanthemum? it's worked awesomely well

for me. you can get it from a chinese market. i soak it in vodka

for about 2 weeks and put about a tsp in a glass of water. it's

amazingly fast. it's very inexpensive, btw.

Hello, I'm new here and would love the answer to this one. I've been

getting migraines for the past year and though my chiropractor and

massages have helped, I still suffer through them several times a

month. The chiro told me a cold rice pack on my eyes and forehead

would help and it does somewhat. I've heard that my migraines may be

caused from hormones since I'm in the perimenopausal stage of life.

Any info. on herbal solutions would be appreciated. I went to a

neurologists and she put me on Ultram and Topomax. One made me drowsy,

the other jittery so that didn't work. Since I'm beginning this new

stage of life, I'm really focusing more on herbal and bio-identical

ways of treating what ails me;-)

Try rubbing peppermint essential oil on the temples and at the base of

the neck. This usually gives relief for a good while.

Feverfew also helps with migraines but may take a few days of taking

it regularly for it to be effective.

Look into her diet... Many issues in my diet helped me dull the recurring migraines: MSG, alcohol, fried foods, heavy *bad* carbs... I don't know too much about immediate cures, as the only thing that ever helped for me was a cold compress over my head and eyes, complete darkness and silence. Also, teas, valerian mint is great AND helps sleep it off... Hope you find some relief! Migraines are terrible and I wouldn't wish them on any enemy! Try rubbing peppermint essential oil on the temples and at the base of the neck....snip

We use lavender EO and rub that on the temples and at the base of the neck. Never tried the peppermint, does that work well too? Also, feverfew works for migraines. I made a tincture for my Pastor's wife and it has worked good for her. I know of another lady that rolls up a leaf and eats it with salt every time she gets a migraine. Hope this helps.

I bought some feverfew capsules for my aunt who gets migraines. You have to take it every day, as maintenance. It won't help if you're already hurting. The last time I talked to her, she said she'd been taking it and it had been two months since she'd needed to take her Imitrex.

Another thing to consider.........she may need to do a thorough herbal

colon cleanse, and possibly a few weeks of it. I know of people who

have seen great improvements by just doing that if they've never done

one.

Hello,

Feverfew is excellent for preventing migraines. If you have anywhere to

grow the fresh herb, eat 2-3 leaves per day (they taste disgusting!) Other

wise you should be able to purchase tincture in any health food store. Take

on regular basis for prevention.

Hope it works!

One thing that has helped me in the beginning of an attack is a cold pack behind the neck and a hot pack on the abdomen. A chiropractor gave me that one and it works everytime

In the long run....getting rid of sugar, msg, nitrates, food colorings, aspartame, etc. and adding magnesium to the diet.

Migraine

Migraine headache is a painful and sometimes debilitating condition

that strikes many people in the United States. Although researchers

are not certain of what exactly happens to bring on an attack, it is

believed that the headache itself is caused by the overfilling of

blood vessels around the brain and their rebound reaction to this

overfilling.

The blood vessels in turn put pressure on sensitive nerve endings in

the head, causing the throbbing and excruciating pain of migraine.

Many migraine patients report that certain foods are often related

to the triggering of migraine attacks. Fortunately, identifying and

avoiding these foods can help to significantly reduce the frequency

of attacks.

In addition, by incorporating certain foods and nutrients into

their menu plans, migraine patients may be able to decrease the

number of migraines they experience.

Eat more

Cold water fish such as alaskan salmon, water-packed sardines,

herring, mackerel and halibut for their beneficial omega 3 fatty

acids.

Avoid foods that cause allergic reactions; vasoactive amines such as

chocolate, aged cheese, fermented sausage, red wine, sour cream, and

picked herring; salt; and excessive saturated fat.
