Guest guest
I drink maybe 12 ounces of olde tyme Black Tea, each day. Used to be Lipton's but now I buy WalMart brand. This is I believe called " Orange Pekoe " . I use 5 Family Size Teabags to make 20 oz of tea, so I basically make it 20X stronger than anyone else in America. I sweeten it with Stevia and it's on ice. I suppose this is good for me, but I just like the taste. I have much drunk any sody pop/Coke etc, in at least 40 years. I just don't like the taste of Coke since they changed the basic formula, about 1968. ..
Guest guest
Bravo on the soda and stuff. I switched to juices (orange, cranberry) Be careful about tea. I suggest decaf or an herbal brand like Celestial Seasoning. If it's the kind that needs to be heated, I hope you are bringing the water to a boil first. I also believe in the medicinal properties of tea and I've found some tea with tea tree leaves in it. It really curbs my appetite and I have energy to at least get through the day. I drink about 3 mugs per day. Kevin on 11/5/06 12:39 AM, Blando789 at Blando789 wrote: I drink maybe 12 ounces of olde tyme Black Tea, each day. Used to be Lipton's but now I buy WalMart brand. Guest guest
I replaced coffee with tea as a young man, and have loved that decision ever since. I don’t like the paper in the tea bags (chemicals in the paper), so I buy the “loose leaf” tea- usually in a box. A pound costs less than 5 dollars at one of those mideast or asian markets;Or one can find tea importing companies and pay a tad more; Or there’s Lipton or others at the grocers. I prefer the taste of the loose leaf, but bags are fine too. (Instant tea is not on the agenda here… its worse than sodas.) I have found Lapsang Souchong to be very helpful when afflicted by dental or digestive problems- and I like this strange smoky tea. But normally I drink about two cups of black long leaf tea (Ceylon or Darjeling, Orange Peko, etc), morning, noon, and after work during the quiet times…never after about 700 unless I want to stay awake for awhile. One can make a really wonderful and envigorating winter tea by bringing a pot of water to boil; then add in appropriate amounts of black tea (one tea spoon per cup, and one for the pot), and a stick of cinnamon, some dried orange peel ( I save them from when I peel one- they freeze dry), and a few cloves. Steep for about 5 to 10 minutes. Add grated ginger to make a really regal and healthy winter tea- and a wonderfully tasty one as well. I have often dropped in hibiscus or rose hips, dried cheeries or berries, figs, etc to the tea when steeping- just depends on the need or the desire. I too had read of the antioxidants found in tea, and believe it is beneficial to my ongoing good health. Besides, there is such culture and history associated with tea that it becomes a sort of lifelong companion, something one looks forward to each day; and something healthy one can share.
