Guest guest
Hi! I have just been diagnosed with slight overactive thryoid condition. Is there anything natural that I can do to correct this problem? Also, I am nursing and plan on doing so for at least another 6 months or so so I can't take anything that can hurt my daughter. Any suggestions or information would be greatly appreciated? Thanks Much! Sheryl
Guest guest
Sheryl, Try to get the lab results. Overactivity may come from several sources. Guest guest
Sheryl, Stay away from high sources of Iodine, like Iodized salt, Multi Vitamins with high Iodine content... you will be surprised in how many foods they add a form of sea weed, like careegan, agar-agar, etc. Cabbage family products, like brussel sprouts and cabbage juice are helpful... I had this condition and was lucky to have found a good endocrinologist that was willing to wait and see if what I was doing on my own would work! As a result of this, I found that citric acid (which is a preservative added to most process foods these days) was involved in creating a stress condition in a chain reaction involving my thyroid and adrenals... I also developed a reactive hypoglycemic condition, where if I stay without eating for a while and then ate a meal with simple sugars, I would get an adrenalin spike with heart palpitations, etc. I now eat low GI snacks regularly and avoid most gluten containing breads, etc. Everybody is different so you should do your own investigation of what maybe causing YOUR problem, in my case, it was STRESS unbalancing y endocrine system!
