" DOCTORS CANNOT: - Accept personal gifts or services. - Be paid for listening to sales talk, prescribing a medicine, or attending a conference. - Seek industry ghostwriters. Articles or speeches must disclose financial interests in relevant company. - Purchase drugs or medical equipment for Stanford if they have any financial relationship with companies involved in contract bidding. " INDUSTRY CANNOT: - Send sales representatives into patient or non-patient care areas, unless they have an appointment. - Directly fund meals and refreshments at educational events. - Select students for scholarships. The School of Medicine selects the student and the funds to the program, not the student. "
