It does cause low adrenals function, and you need it to live - http://www.westonaprice.org/moderndiseases/statin.html Thus, low cholesterol--whether due to an innate error of metabolism or induced by cholestero l- lowering diets and drugs--can be expected to disrupt the production of adrenal hormones and lead to blood sugar problems, edema, mineral deficiencies, chronic inflammation, difficulty in healing, allergies, asthma, reduced libido, infertility and various reproductive problems. http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C272812.html A study of 121 healthy young women found that those with low cholesterol levels - below 160mg/dl - were more likely to score high on measures of depression and anxiety than women with normal or high cholesterol levels. Normal cholesterol levels are considered to fall within the range of 180mg/dl to 200mg/dl. There is now a compelling body of evidence in both men and women that low cholesterol is a potential predictor for depression and anxiety in certain individuals. [Psychosomatic Medicine, May 1999] http://www.healthfirst.net.au/content/view/337/42/ Cholesterol is made by the body and is also present in food. Many parts of the body, such as the brain and the adrenal glands, depend on cholesterol for their proper function. ************* By the way, if you have high triglycerides, your total cholesterol is overstated. Guest guest
Skipper - I have high cholestrol (a tad over 200 and am 31 yrs), low adrenals, but I also have Hashimoto's. How does the Hashimoto's contradict the study of low cholestrol and low adrenals. Just wondering, if you know. ??? -Wendi Alobar <Alobar wrote: ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Skipper Beers <lsb149 Sep 20, 2006 9:59 AM Re: Cholesterol and adrenals [iodine] Re: Help w/iodine and Hashimotos iodine > > " Gracia " <circe > > > hmmmm > > I would blame low cholesterol on low adrenals (I have low cholesterol > >too).
