Guest guest
Hello there. I am new to this group and wanted to get some information regarding red palm oil and coconut oil. I have had chronic sinus infections, yeast infections, Epstein Barr virus outbreaks, depression, weight gain and migraines. Through research, I came upon the benefits of these oils. However, I have high cholesterol and my Dr. wants me on a low fat diet. If I incorporate these oils, I'll be getting too much fat in my diet. If I take the oils sporadically, they won't provide the health benefit. Does anyone have any experience with taking these oils? I appreciate any advice. thanks! Guest guest
Pam - I stuffered with all of these from June 2004 through early 2006. I am now cured of all of these, especially the painful neuralgia that came with the EBV. I take oils but for the pain and cholesterol. 1. Immune system connection with EBV - Reishi Mushroom 2 daily (herbalist told me that this is specific to the Herpes virus) If I become tired and glands in neck swell (rare now), I apply castor oil pack on neck and this helps a lot. 2. Chronic Fatigue from EBV- Armour Thyroid (prescription) - cured in 3 days with this. Low body temperature is clue to deficiency. 3. Cholesterol (besides diet) - Evening Primrose Oil (4000 mgs) and Policosanol I use olive oil in cooking. 4. For inflammation (and you have these anyway with EBV), 4000 mgs Omega-3, Zyflamend (2 pills) and, the most powerful for reasons I do not understand, TONALIN (CLA - 2 pills). Giving up sugar is essential for yeast and inflamation!!! --- My cholesterol is now about 200 but my HDL is 98! 5. For yeast, if I feel it is a problem, I pop 8 pills of Garden of Life's Primal Defense and I douche with a mild vinegar and water solution (you can even buy this pre-mixed) but it is no longer a problem. This and Colloidal Silver (big dropperful daily) has kept away yeast and chronic urinary tract infections. The vaginal area needs to be slightly acidic -- this discourages yeast and baacteria that thrive on alkalinity. This is the regime that has given me my life back and a system that I can easily live with. I do not know why Tonalin works so well. I picked it up thinking it was GLA. 30 minutes after popping 2 pills, my inflamation disappeared! It was better than a pain pill. I later realized the mistake but felt grateful that I discovered this new " cure. " I now realize that so many health problems have mild inflamations at the core -- stroke, heart attack, neuralgia and pain....so these supplements are good for me in general. I should also add that I discovered that migraines were connected to the inflamations and FOOD ALLERGIES. I was able to determine these allergies myself -- tomato sauce, strawberries, processed meat, soy and melon -- and, of course, SUGAR. I gave up diet sodas (I was an addict!) and fried foods (bad oils caused headaches). Since taking the Tonalin, I can eat some of the bad foods as it somehow remedies the inflamation of the food allergies. Without Tonalin, the pain returns quickly. During the almost 2 year period, I went to all kinds of traditional and alternative doctors -- I wasted thousands of dollars. Then, I heard Andrew Weil talk on inflamations and contacted a well known herbalist in Berkeley Springs WV (Sage Moon). It took about 10 days for me to feel " cured. " The Armour Thyroid came about 8 months into the EBV crisis. My dentist gave me a prescription for it and I was cured of CFS in 3 days! I hope you can find something here. These health issues can take your life away. Fortunately, I found easy solutions that I can live with...Lynn Koiner - Pam Turner Friday, August 11, 2006 10:07 PM Red Palm Oil and Coconut Oil Hello there. Guest guest
Hi there Pam, I am using cocconut oil to cook my morning eggs, have been for several months now. I can report a slow loss of weight as Dr. Mercola's web site said I would. All fats are not the same , they all have their good and not so good points...whole books have been written on this subject. I am happy with coconut oil and take other supplements to off set any problems, such as garlic, lecithin, ginko etc. Nora G - " Pam Turner " <mpcjturner Friday, August 11, 2006 10:07 PM Red Palm Oil and Coconut Oil > Hello there. Does anyone > have any experience with taking these oils? > > I appreciate any advice. > > thanks! > Has anyone told you that the majority of disease is related to a lack of essential fatty acids (omega-3s), none of which are present in coconut or palm oils. It is the ratio of saturated fat to unsaturated fats that is important for inflammation. When saturated fats are more prevalent you will have just the sorts of problems you outlined in your most recent post. Research omega 3 fatty acids if you want more instant relief. If you are consuming a more refined diet rich in omega 6 fatty acids, you need to supplement with omega 3s. The typical american diet has 20 times more omega 6s than omega 3s which contributes to the high incidence of inflammation that many individuals are experiencing! If I were you I would do a search on the correct ratios of these essential fats. Olive oil has an important essential fat (omega 9) which will help to counteract inflammation as well. Sinus infections: Mullein, echinacea and marshmallow Regards, JoAnn
