A former dear friend recently died in Fredricksburg, VA. He and his Mrs. retired five years ago from U.S. Civil Service to Fredricksburg. He was a large person, always overweight. His Mrs. told me that he was a chronic junk-food eater, and guzzler of diet Coke, sweetened with ASPARTAME. And for the last twenty years. However, he took vitamin supplements daily. Symptoms set in about six months ago, essentially tiredness which progressed swiftly to pain when walking and moving around, deteriorated to slow, awkward walking. Over this period he gained +40 lbs. He rationalized the symptoms until he decided to enter a local hospital for examination. The primary physician called in a neurologist who diagnosed ALS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, labled Lou Gehrig´s disease, or Motor Neuron Disease, (MND). The two physicians decided to transfer him to Charlottesville, a research hospital for ALS, where staff MDs get their rocks off via " biopsies. " He declined biopsy " studies " . Also, a " living will " disappeared from his record, which had been witnessed by his wife and two nurses. The two physicians who had transferred him had " no knowledge " of the " living will. " Right. So much for the 63% non-altruistic, orthodox, MD physicians, who cannot think " outside the box. " (physicians ???) Perhaps for this group of persons, we need to invent a name other than " physician. " Info on ALS: http://www.evenbetternow.com/als.html Info on aspartame: http://www.newmediaexplorer.org/chris/2005/12/29/will_nm_be_first_state_to_ban_a\ spartame.htm
