Guest guest
From what I have read it is similar to rheumatoid arthritis, I am assuming that it is also an autoimmune disorder... and as such, the treatments should be very similar. One thing I would recommend immediately, is that you get a supplement called 'MSM Joint Formula' made by Natural Factors. A couple years ago, I started having trouble with my shoulder and elbow and it interfering with my sword workout. (I belong to a medieval society and like to play pirate occasionally) I started taking 3 of these a day, and within about a month, the pain stopped. I also recommended to a friend at work who had tennis elbow and he said the pain stopped in two weeks. For more info on this, go here: (I buy all my herbs and supplements, that I don't cap myself, here, their prices are up to 50% of store prices, I usually recieve my orders in 3 business days and I have heard good things about the quality of Natural Factors) http://www.iherb.com/store/ProductDetails.aspx?c=Herbs & pid=NFS-02696 A lot of places recommend one or two of the ingredients but I have found that it is best to have all 3 together for optimum effectiveness. If taken religiously, I believe that it can actually reverse some of the damage... and it has been shown to always slow and often stop the advance of RA. Cat's claw is also recommended for inflamation...check out this article about RA. It gives quite a few options in herbs and other alternatives medicines, including supplements. (Personally, I have that www.herbs2000.com is a very reliable source of alternative treatments for many diseases, just go to the 'ailments' tab in the box in the upper right corner) http://www.herbs2000.com/disorders/rheumatoid_arth.htm I also take 3000 mg of Omega-3, 1300 mg of Evening Primrose oil (Omega-6) and a set of Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc and copper w/vit D softgels (as far as the Omega-3 quality can vary, Omega-3 should not freeze solid, to test it, cut open a gelcap into a shotglass and put it in a normal freezer overnight. If it freezes solid, it is not good enough, it can get cloudy and thick but it should freeze solid, my diabetes book recommends Natural Factors for this too) here is one more article about Arthritis, in the related articles links on the left, there are articles on Juvenile Arthitis and natural treatments for RA, if you go to the bottom of the natural treatment article, there are links for more articles including diet recommendations that may help. http://www.arthritis-pain-relief-and-treatment.com/1-Concerned-About-Rheumatoid-\ Arthritis.html if that link get truncated, try this http://tinyurl.com/gbarl Cynthia , " carol_4452 " <carol_4452 wrote: > > My 12 year old granddaughter was just diagnosed with JIA. > Does anyone have any alternative medicine suggestions that would be > helpful to help ease the pain and perhaps resolve the arthritic > condition. > > Right now the doctors aren't doing anything for her except advising she > take Aleve twice daily. Guest guest
Thanks very much, Cynthia, for the helpful information. I'll share this with my daughter. One of my granddaughter's doctors is an M.D. who incorporates natural medicine into his practice.
