Guest guest
My sentiments completely, I am sending it every where I can. In fact have allready sent 6 people. I would like to have a dollar for everytime I have expressed myself about the take over of our country . It is like it is up for grabs. I never hear or see the white house saying anything. Why doesn't the white how rise up and express this letter or something like it???????? It makes me angry because I think they do not for votes. One nation under God, god was here before we were how can we take him out. When I was a kid, we saluted the flag every day, it was just what was done, We sang the National anthem, America the Beautiful, and another song I seem to have forgotten. This is the way it should be no questions asked. This is America and there are plenty of forces at work to destroy it. sharon

Guest guest
I don't usually voice a political opinion because politics and religion usually cause a stir on the lists but I just felt compelled to forward this. Some will probably disagree but that is what makes our country what it is. The right to disagree. MAKE A HAPPY MEMORY EVERY DAY: Evelyn Alternasense Skin Design Products www.alternasense.com<http://www.alternasense.com/> - Nancy<nlee5152 Undisclosed-Recipient:;<Undisclosed-Recipient:;> Wednesday, December 10, 2003 6:36 AM This says it all Story in Tampa Paper Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice???????? Think about it........ All I have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS? I celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't celebrated by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday?? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that. This says it all! After hearing that the state of Florida changed its opinion and let a Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's license with her face covered this is an editorial written by an American citizen, published in a Tampa newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please! IMMIGRANTS, NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept.. 11, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Americans.. However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the " politically correct " crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! " In God We Trust " is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle. Our First Amendment gives every! citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great American freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE. If you agree -- pass this along; if you don't agree -- delete it! AMEN I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets all try, please
Guest guest
Here is my take on it all ... > Story in Tampa Paper > Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice???????? Think about it........ Not always forced on us by those from other countries, there are a lot of grumbly folks who were born here ;-p I actually think folks who come from other countries appreciate what we have the ability to do here. I snipped the rest of the stuff on this topic for " bandwidth " but I really do feel that most folks I've met who have come here legally go out of their way to become a part of our country and make it a better place to live and live the American Dream themselves. More often its the folks who are born here that take it for granted, or put a strange spin on it, or just complain and be lazy. Okay. First off - I'm not Christian (even though my name is Christine , but I have no problem with folks saying Merry Christmas or little kids having a Christmas tree in their classroom, etc ... I think if a little kid in that same school wants to put their own little seasonal holiday symbol up in class they should be allowed to also. If a Jewish child wants to teach the class the daedal song along with the class singing carol of O' Christmas tree - awesome, or if there is a Ramadan song, or Hindu winter holiday song, etc, etc ... I think everyone - EVERYONE has to stop being so darn offended. Gotta get over it. The world is an offensive place. " fair " is a child's word It was " unfair " - Ah well. We survive ;-p Try to do something about it, but don't be offended. And I also think folks have to start to learn about each other a bit more too! There is a whole other discussion on some other lists about how the gov't is giving moneys to religious organizations for charity work/helping the poor, and then when the head of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives agency was asked about if Pagans faith based groups will get any of the money some gov't guy said " I haven't run into a pagan faith-based group yet, much less a pagan group that cares for the poor! " Now that was just stupid of him to say, and why did he say such a dumb thing - cause he doesn't know any better. Like a lot of folks, they just don't know any better .... So not only Christians are having problems out there - there is no free ride for anyone. Those who had ALL the voice for the longest time get mad when anyone steps on their toes (and people ARE indeed being dumb in their toe stepping) and those who never had any voice for the longest time are mad when anyone steps on THEIR toes (and once again people ARE indeed being dumb in their toe stepping) .. so everyone is mad, and grumpy and complaining *LOL* .. I say they ALL need cinnamon bark suppositories to wake them up and let them know what REAL anal discomfort is ... ;-p And then they have to go to dancing school so they learn to not step on toes (and HEY that cinnamon suppository might help a few stiff folks learn to dance too *lol*) ! *Wink* Chris (list mom) http://www.alittleolfactory.com
Guest guest
Very well said Chris, I live in a area where Hasidic Jewish people come for the summer, our population triples, they don't speak to us, and it can be nerve racking at times, however I witness some of the most horrific comments said to them by the locals, throwing rocks and things at them because they stop their cars at sundown and walk down the highway, its ugly and the worst is that much of this is done by other Jews. Guest guest
Chris, You are one cool lady. I'd love ya even if you were fuchsia with green stripes. Although I must admit that fuchsia is one of my favorite colors. I hope all is forgiven. I never intended to hurt anyone's feelings. Guest guest
I don't post often, but thought I'd share an incident that happened when my dd ws in 6th grade (about 7 years ago) Instead of having a Christmas tree and such the classroom had a few days of sharing about various traditions of their faith. For instance, one Jewish boys brought in potato latkes and shared about Hanukah. They learned about other religions if there was no one in the class of that faith, too. Everything was covered EXCEPT Christianity. Fortunately, I didn't know about this until after the fact. Then, late in the spring the class had an indoor recess because of rain. The kids were playing games and such. My daughter was sitting with 3 or 4 of her friends, discussing their churches, what they were learning, what things, meant, etc. They were all Christian girls, just went to different churches. Well, the teacher came by and told them they couldn't talk about church because it might offend someone! WELL, needless to say, when she told me about this I called and made an appt. with the teacher. These girls were not trying to convert others, they were just having a conversation among themselves. The principal was on my side, but the teacher held her ground for a while. Finally, after several discussions and me saying I would take this further, she agreed to apologize to the girls. I often wonder how she treated students in the future, but I know that she was wrong. Had she stopped a group of Muslim or Jewish children from discussing something among themselves, I'm sure there would have been a lot of trouble!! Just my humble opinion, Jan Christine Ziegler wrote: > Here is my take on it all ... > > > > > Story in Tampa Paper > > I think if a little kid in that same school wants to put their own > little seasonal holiday symbol up in class they should be allowed to > also. Guest guest
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I am not Christian. I am a witch and It is wrong not to include Christianity in with the other religions. Period. If you do one, you do them all equally. My children are of all faiths. I can and do cook Kosher for a couple of them. No matter where they wanted to go for prayer, we took them. Both my hubby and I studied their faiths with them and encouraged them to make their own paths. Hubby is a Mason and a Shriner and it has made for some lively discussions.
