Greetings, potential friends.

My name is Becky and I live in Montana.

I have irritable bowel syndrome, severe acid reflux (GERD), and now type two

diabetes. Well, metabolic syndrome. My triglycerides and cholestoral

readings are through the roof. My blood sugar, which I have been hypoglyemic

most

of my life (I'm 37), is now considered high. I'm on metformin, generic form of

glucophage. So far, I've felt like crap since I've been on it (since

Thursday).

I have chronic sinus problems and am used to sinus headaches and am also

prone to migraines. But, since I've started this drug, I have twice had horrid

headaches that weren't anything like either a sinus headache or a migraine.

I work as a 911 dispatcher, so yeah, I have " dispatcher butt. " Been on the

job 10 years and have probably gained 40 lbs. I used to be thin, but after

having reconstructive knee sugery in 1989 and two more surgeries after that, I

have struggled with my weight.

I used to like to walk a couple of miles a day, but after a back injury 4

years ago, I can't go as long. I'm thinking about getting a bicycle. I have a

stationary bicycle, but it bothers my knee. That and it's boring. When I

walk, I like to push myself. I'm thinking a regular bicycle would having me

doing

that more than the other one.

What I'm asking is for foods that can lower cholesterol and most importantly

blood sugar. I know oatmeal can. My mother had diabetes and oatmeal worked

for her. I've heard that cinnamon works, but causes GI upset. I have enough

GI problems that I probably wouldn't realize it.

Hello Becky and welcome to the group.

My best suggestion for you is to educate yourself regarding your

health issues.

I suggest that you go to our homepage and there you will find about

40,000 messages and articles in our archives concerning health and

you can find the things that you mention in your message. In the

searchable archives you should find hundreds of articles covering your

health issues.

There are also a group of links in our links library so that members

can educate themselves on various aspects of alternative health.

Becky, I will give you some thoughts to pursue....

1. I have recorded a lot of success with organic coconut oil for IBS and GED.

I put a large tablespoonful on hot cereal. It is not oily and, with a good

white-colored variety, it has a nice coconut flavor. You can google on Coconut

oil for good reports.

2. How is your body temperature? Look up Wilson's Syndrome and read Broda

Barnes, " Hypothyroidism.... "

Armour thyroid is helpful here and there can be a connection with your blood

sugar problems. There have been some excellent posts on this Group recently on

thyroid problems.

Q - Does anyone who how accurate the saliva tests are for thyroid. Body temp is

best. Blood tests are useless!

3. Diet is essential and an anti-inflammatory diet saved my life! No sugar and

identify food allergies. I have a problem with tomato sauce, strawberries,

processed meats and many soy products.

I take 4000 mgs Omega 3 in morning, 2 Zyflemend and Tonalin (works great but I

do not know why)....and evercise, just walking, even at the mall or around the

block helps.

I just did a cut and paste of your symptoms recently but I cannot find the

information....I will write again....Lynn

hi becky sry for al your problems you sound EXACTLY like my daughter shes

50 years old and been on that gluaphage for 6 years plus other things the

glu. has gradually been adding wt on her for theses years and that doesnt

help all the other things either -- she has gone for the rouen-bypass

and after she gets it all this will be done with she has gained

up to 350 on gluaphase the doctors attest to this of course if u

have diabetes you have to take something and our family runs rampant

with sugar------ of course surgery is a big step but wait till you ve

been on this for a couple years it ruins a person ---- hope you find your

answer soon i ve seen what daughter goes through good luck
