Guest guest
Friedman throws the word " democrat " around, as if there were no philosophy underlying it. To say that democrats have " joined republicans in the destruction of our country, " is so silly, I can't remain silent. What Friedman is trying to say, I hope, but doesn't bother to make it clear, is that " some " democrats are doing this, along with the republicans. But this isn't democratic policy in evidence here, it's simply human nature. To obscure these differences is inexcusable and distorts an already muddled issue, beyond repair. People are different. Political parties are different, and fight for a different set of values. That " individuals " betray those values, is not the fault of democrats, and to say it's so, is infuriating, and steals away a scant but real hope that we can overcome our plight. The ideological battle for the benefit of the common man in society is tipped heavily toward the democrats. Everyone knows this. When the interests of ordinary people come before the two major parties, for a vote, the democrats are almost invariably in much greater support of those interests, than the republicans. To appear to conflate these parties the way Friedman does, inflicts a dangerous and misleading notion into peoples thoughts. We can start by reaffirming democratic, and democratic party, values; identify the traitors in the dem party, and work to eliminate them, while we strive to seat democrats in power, that serve rather than violating those values. jp - califpacific Wednesday, May 24, 2006 2:32 AM The biggest con: Democrats & Republicans work together part 3 of 3 http://onlinejournal.com/artman/publish/article_785.shtml The biggest con: Democrats & Republicans work together to destroy America, part 3 of 3 Tibor S.
