Good for you. :-P Its well worth it .. and for mommas and daddys who

want their children to appreciate history, I betcha they can't do any

better than getting this series into the kid's hands. John Jakes also

wrote the famous North & South Trilogy. Amazing feller who can put out

5 or 6 books in a year .. each three times the size of the normal book

and each receiving raves from ALL the critics. There have been a half

dozen movies made from his books.

Thankee m'am. I found the last two in a used paperback exchange called

the Attic .. in Hendersonville, TN, during my last trip. I intend to

have all of them hard bound here in Turkey .. Turkey has been famous for

bookbinding for centuries .. they used to bind all the books in Europe

and its inexpensive. Then I wannna pass them to my grandyounguns and

threaten their parents with excommunication if they don't ensure the

kids read them. ;-p

Good for you gal. :-P I used to sit in study hall and read friggin

encyclopedias. Never did my homework cause it bored me and I didn't

like most of the teachers nohow .. but loved learning new trivia.

Great it is. Kids who like to read do well in life .. doesn't always

mean they do well in high school cause kids who love to read are often

bored crapless by the typical assembly line edumocation system.

I love to talk history with folks who know it .. especially over a meal

or a drink or three. Hard to find such folks here but I have found one

and we talk often.

With some exceptions, most generals are monotone folks ... ;-p Likely

it was he was just fulfilling a requirement of higher headquarters.
