Fruit Of The Poison Tree

Millions of citizens are rightly calling for the impeachment of George

Bush due to his criminal and unethical policies. But when Bush is gone

the system that produced him will remain in place, as healthy and

viable as ever. It will continue to bear a plentiful crop of poison

fruit, perhaps even more sinister than Bush. That is why we must think

revolution rather than reform.

Growing Number Of GOP Seats In Doubt

Some Republican veterans of the 1994 GOP takeover of Congress see

worrisome parallels between then and now, in the way once-safe

narrowed. Republican voters appear disenchanted. The Bush effect now

amounts to a drag of five percentage points or more in many districts.

Bush Exercising His Options In Interpreting Laws

Bush signed a military spending bill in December that included a

hard-fought amendment banning the cruel, inhuman or degrading

judgment, to protect Americans from terrorism. More than 700 memos

amount to partial vetoes...

Diebold Disaster: Newsweek Jumps In, Covers Latest E-Voting Debacle!

" If Diebold had set out to build a system as insecure as they possibly

could, this would be it, " says Avi Rubin, a Johns Hopkins University

computer-science professor and elections-security expert. Things

aren't looking good for our friends at Diebold. Even NEWSWEEK is

finally paying attention as Steven Levy files a report for this week's

issue on the story we broke two weeks ago.

Huge Victory In Suit Vs. Diebold Voting Machines (CA)

A precedent-making lawsuit against Secretary of State Bruce McPherson

and 18 county voter registrars has prevailed as seven counties have

converted or have agreed to convert to paper ballots. McPherson and 18

California county registrars are called on in the suit to ban the use

and purchase of Diebold voting machines in the state of California.

NPR's Weekend Edition Covers The Latest Diebold Security Issues

Diebold spokesman Radke says the physical security of the machines

would make it impossible to exploit the security hole. Radke, of

course, knows he's just spinning. Aviel Rubin makes that clear in his

response, explaining how he could have compromised an election in

about 5 seconds as a poll worker through this ridiculous vulnerability.

Why Is The Media Downplaying Our Voting Scandal?

Compared to corporate machinations, or even military-industrial

seem to bore the punditocracy.

soon exploded into boos, catcalls and turned backs.

The Fat's In The Fire - Now There's Only Hell To Pay

....On the other hand the folks we send to Washington ...not only miss

the point, but the kind things that actually create such problems,

then they proceed to do things to make them worse, not better. The

public record on this irrefutable and unambiguous. I'm not suggesting

we send college flunk-outs to Washington, but it does leave one

wondering if things could be any worse if we did.

the story they didn't do. "

Democrats And The Defense Budgets

A Republican White House and Congress have produced, at increased

cost, a military establishment that is shrinking, aging and less ready

to fight. The ruinous effects have shown up again and again, in the

form of over-stretched, poorly supported forces in Iraq. There is,

however, no debate. The Democratic Party, while happy to take easy

potshots, is advocating more of the same.

Marriage Ban Closes The Gates To Palestinians

By a wafer-thin majority, the highest court in the land ruled that an

enshrined in the country's Basic Laws.

Iran Report Of Holocaust-style Badges Questioned

The National Post is sending shockwaves across the country this

Middle East expert who was born and raised in Tehran, says the report

is false.

Iran Passes New Law Requiring 'Jews, Christians, And Other

Non-Muslims " To Wear Badges

Iran's roughly 25,000 Jews would have to sew a yellow strip of cloth

on the front of their clothes, while Christians would wear red badges

and Zoroastrians would be forced to wear blue cloth. " There's no

reason to believe they won't pass this, " said Rabbi Hier. " It will

certainly pass unless there's some sort of international outcry over

this. "

Senate OKs 'Racist', 'Divisive, And Anti-American' Amendment Declaring

After an emotional debate fraught with symbolism, the Senate yesterday
