Guest guest
Tue, 16 May 2006 07:44:14 -0400 (EDT) " BuzzFlash " <alerts Bush Puddle Jumps from PR Stunt to PR Stunt While the Nation Crumbles TOP FIVE HEADLINES It's so tragically ironic. After sending even grandfathers from the National Guard to die in Iraq -- leaving our country short-handed in protecting our nation, as witnessed in Hurricane Katrina -- Rove has Bush puddle jump from one opportunistic public relations stunt to another. On Monday, he focused on the Republican demagogue issue of the moment: Mexican immigration. We'll skip for the sake of brevity why poor Mexicans are willing to die trying to make it to the promised land, and just say that this is just another example of what a former White House staffer called the " Mayberry Machiavellis. " It's all public relations imagery without public policy substance. That's the entire Bush Administration. The immigration issue from our southern neighbor is a very complicated one. But the word complexity is banished from the White House. Every problem has a sound bite solution for Karl Rove, even if it actually leads to chaos and destruction. We hear Bush will also have drones patrolling the border, which means that we Americans will have to start worrying about more than guano from pigeons falling on us. Soon drones will be patrolling our city streets no doubt, in the limitless Orwellian " hunt " for the elusive terrorists (hey, Bush couldn't even get his man, Osama). And we'll need to look up to make sure that a missile or laser isn't being aimed our way. Meanwhile, the perjured Hayden goes on testifying in that oh-so " business as usual " D.C. sort of way, without a sense of outrage from the Democrats about the administration's domestic spying. We should point out again that both Hayden and Gonzales would not deny that the Bush Administration is engaged in domestic spying for political purposes. And yesterday, ABC revealed that a CIA staff member told them that the agency was spying on journalists. This was later confirmed to ABC by the FBI, who took a " you're all fair game " approach to this latest Soviet-style press intimidation tactic. We have a police start now. Don't cringe that this is some sort of extreme, over-the-top claim. When you have a government that freely spies on its own people and journalists for political purposes (which is to keep the journalists from revealing anything that might embarrass the administration) -- and who in the world would think that the Busheviks aren't using the information for political purposes: that is their raison d'etre -- without any accountability, you have crossed the threshold into a police state. The Bush Administration is violating the Constitution with impunity. The Stepford and moderate Republicans give him a pass and the " Jellocrats " just demand " an investigation, " as if a real one would happen or was needed. Message to the Democrats: the facts for a pathologically law-breaking administration are now in the public domain. Yes, there are more details to know, many. But there is enough evidence out there to make the judgment now that we have law-breakers, who regularly violate the Constitution and the will of Congress in OUR White House. That means that they should not be in office. They should be in court as defendants. On top of that, as we have endlessly pointed out, the Busheviks are totally inept. They have taken one act of terrorism and created and nurtured a whole new generation of terrorists. They aren't fighting terrorism; they are creating the next wave of terrorism. They are flat out the most ineffective, arrogant, bumbling, telescopic, egomaniacal, and failed group of people to lead America in memory. They are losers who put our country at daily risk. Period. So, why do we continually write about how the Republicans, the pundits, and most of the Democratic Capitol Hill leaders in D.C. are continually living in a parallel universe of niceties -- and preserving the status quo of mediocrity and failure at all cost? Because we have developed a permanent ruling class -- regardless of party or media affiliation -- that is like one big elite crowd. Republicans and far too many Democratic leaders alike basically have contempt for the common person. They believe that they are not representing democracy, but that they are ruling democracy. How did the village idiot of the nation become President, hopping from one PR scam to another? This is the stuff of an unstable government lurching from failure to failure and trying to salvage it through photo-ops and poll-created announcements with deadly implications. This shouldn't be happening to America. It is our nation. It belongs to us. We should start acting like it. These people are accountable to us. But it is the big corporations, the big party structures, and the altar of conventional wisdom that they worship. America's altar is liberty, freedom, privacy and the right to rebel against tyranny. Let them hear your outrage. The press is starting to connect the dots. From the New York Daily News: " President Bush is considering using the National Guard to keep illegal immigrants from slipping across the Mexican border, aides said yesterday as Bush's approval ratings sunk below 30% for the first time. FEATURED BUZZFLASH PREMIUM Hostile Takeover: How Big Money and Corruption Conquered Our Government--and How We Take It Back (Hardcover) by David Sirota Read BuzzFlash.com's Review>>> http://www.buzzflash.com/store/?cmd=showreview & itemid=200 (Excerpt) We got to know David Sirota when he was the communications person for the next United States Senator from the State of Vermont, Bernie Sanders. Sirota is the worst nightmare of the DNC: David looks at Washington and sees both parties as willing puppets of corporate greed. Of course, he sees the Republicans as worse than the Democrats, but it's a matter of degree. * * * Sirota's basic premise is that the American government has experienced a hostile takeover by large corporate entities. He offers plenty of proof for his thesis that we've gone from Lincoln's " government of the people, by the people and for the people " to Bush's " government of the rich, by the rich and for the rich. " * * * Sirota offers us a vision of how our government has been hijacked by dollars -- and what we need to do to return our Constitutional democracy to the citizens of the United States.
