Distilled and Expressed Citrus

Yes'm ... there sho'nuf is a difference. I think there are some folks

who like the odor of distilled Lime better than expressed but there are

few who will take the other citrus distilled over expressed. The rind

of Lemon makes a much finer oil. And of course, with distillation, a

Citrus oil doesn't have coumarins so its not phototoxic.

 

Its possible to distill the whole fruit ... my guy here tried it with

Lemons and Oranges .. a waste it is .. and came out like crap too. ;-p

 

Last year, he had sheets spread out all over the ground under his Orange

trees .. waiting for fresh blossoms to fall off. Not enough fell so he

decided to shake the trees a bit. Of course, every blossom that fell

was one less orange later on and he still didn't get enough blossoms to

produce any Neroli. ;-p

 

We're about to be into the season .. Oranges and Lemons will be cheaper

than dirt soon. I have a professional hand press .. like the Vitamin

stores use. I have my maid buy 25-30 kilos of Oranges and Grapefruit

and spend an entire afternoon squeezing. Mighty fine it is. :-P
