Guest guest
Hi, I got my package with (more) EOs from a very good German company named " Aromaberatung, Pflege und Kultur " and I got some Indian Lime in there. Since earlier I have the coldpressed Lime EO, a very crispy, juice scent, but the newest adition doesn't smell the same (but indeed nice in it's own form) - and they are both labeled with " citrus medica " . But what is the difference? I have searched the web, but came up with no in depth info on the Indian Lime. Could anyone help me out? I managed to find out info for the difference between Bay Leaf and Bay Rum, and for that I'm proud of my own achievements LOL. It's citron, a big cousin to lime. There are two basic kinds of limes, and let's forget the common names, like " Indian " for a moment. There is the large, oval/ovoid shiny green lime commonly used in Thai cooking, or to make 'limeaid' here in the States. It has scanty juice (IMO) and few seeds, and a thick rind. Then there is a small, round lime, dullish skin, thin skin, lots of seeds and lots of juice. Frequently allowd to ripen to a yellow color, and used in Key Lime pies here in the States. They are both wonderful. And their common names are confusing. Forget them. For more info on limes, visit: http://www.hort.purdue.edu/newcrop/morton/index.html There, under " Rutaceae " you'll find four common names for different limes. You'll also find citron. http://member.newsguy.com/~herblady ©
Guest guest
I'm sure Butch and Anya gave you much more valuable info, but there is also a big difference in the smell between steam distilled lime and expressed lime.
