Oped News

Savid Sirota on CNN

Last night, for the first time, I saw David Sirota on CNN, with Lou

Dobbs. He did great. He should be a regular there.

: : : :

Dobbs asked about the poll showing that 63% of people are okay with

the latest NSA spying disclosures. David replied that they asked the

wrong question and should have asked if people approved spying without

court approved warrants. This thoroughly disconcerted Dobbs. I can't

wait to see him on as a pundit again.

have a great one,

The Angry Musings Of A Simple Country Man

Unjust tax assessments in the town of Brookfield, New York, are

Why Domestic Spying Is A Violation Of Civil Liberties

As a systems analyst I pondered the purpose of the reported NSA spy

project. Since complete electronic data on suspected Al Qaeda

terrorists is being collected from both domestic and overseas messages

as a separate project, there would be little value in an exhaustive

domestic data collection on all telephone calls. For what other

purposes could this data be used?

How Big Is Too Big?

Even if you like George W. Bush and don't believe he would ever misuse

information of this sort, can you guarantee the next president will be

as noble? Or the one after that? Information like this is a weapon,

and weapons are made to be fired. It's only a matter of time before

some president gives into temptation and uses this, the most

comprehensive blackmail database of all time.

Capital knows neither loyalty or nationality. Its sole motivation is

Has Bush Crossed The Rubicon?

In 49 B.C. Rome found itself at war with itself. Though it was

prohibited by the Roman constitution, Caesar crossed the Rubicon and

defied the civil authorities. The law was on the side of the Senate

and the citizens of Rome —but Caesar had the force of arms. He was

elected consul and dictator for life. Cicero lamented, " Our beloved
