Guest guest
Yes, it is correct, that cellphones provide a permanent record of where individuals (who have them) are and where they travel. I was on a jury, a few years ago. Almost all the evidence was based upon cellphone records, locating persons in relation to where crimes had been committed. We tracked certain persons on a map, in relation to cellphone towers, the direction of travel (by date and time), all by their cellphones. It's not even necessary to use the phones, just have them present, battery installed. Of course, the record of who called whom, was also used. Police began to also record conversations, due to suspected involvement in the crimes. Even without the voice record, cellphones can provide evidence of where a person was, and track them, over as many years as may be desired. The only way to prevent this, is to take out the battery, and even so, there may be ways of identifying and tracking. " Yes, Mrs. Jones, we know you were at the Mall, June 20th/2001, 2-4pm, and the RFID tag on your clothing records that you were in Sears, leaving with a new pair of shoes, on sale at 40% off. Your credit card records your lunch: a baguette tomatoe and cheese sandwich, eaten just before you left for home 4:05, along Parker Way, right to Straight Street, a turn to the Freeway, travelling north to..... and we have you also on surveillance cameras. " A frequent comment might be: " Why worry, if you've done nothing wrong? " " The public feels safer, being monitored. " Well, Mrs. Jones fat behind has been recorded in the dressing room of Sears, and she'll wonder why she's now receiving advertising by Jenny Craig. Her medical insurer put her premiums up, because that cheese baguette may raise her already high LDL. Who needs to know where we are and what we do, and in such detail?
